Dreaming of a Summer Metamorphosis!

*
Ahhh....Summertime!
*
Hello my friends!
*
We have been having some really warm days...I do believe that summer has come to colorful Colorado! When the days grow warmer...I begin looking for ways to "lighten" up my home's decor! It's not always an easy task because I love color...and I love the deep rich colors that fill my home...the olive greens, deep reds, and golds...nevertheless, it's a challenge that I just love taking on! This year I decided to sprinkle "spring green", that pretty bright yellow-green color, throughout the main living area of our home (the kitchen, dining room, and living room). The spring green has really "lightened" up the deeper, darker colors...I just love it!!! If you would like to see a little bit of this new "spring green" decor just click on the photo in my sidebar.
*
And now...
*
I'm ready to do a little "summerizing" in our master bedroom!
*
The "Light & Airy" Colors of Summer

*
Photo is from Pottery Barn's 2010 summer bedding collection.
*
I love, love, LOVE the light colors and paisley pattern of this beautiful bedding...so the planning begins!!!
*
*
Our Master Bedroom...

*
Most of you, if you are a follower of Happy To Design, have seen my master bedroom before. Before going further, I would just like to say that I have always preferred my bedroom to be on the "dark" side...I just sleep better! I have two nice windows in this room. The window behind the bed faces the west where that bright afternoon sun shines in...so I have always worked to keep that light at a minimum. However, I think I am ready for a change...we'll see how it works out! Hehe!
*
As you can see, I have used the chocolatey browns and seaside blues in this room. This has been a very popular color combination...I love it!!!
*
Antique Gold "Old World" Styled Walls...

*
In the beginning it was all white...and then I added color. Told you I liked the deep, rich colors! Hehe! I did a faux painting technique on the walls...something very similar to the look of an "old world" tuscan plaster. I have really enjoyed this look...it just feels very warm and cozy...perfect for a bedroom!
*
The Bedding...

*
I purchased this bedding from JC Penneys. I love the chocolate brown and seaside blue! The comforter is very heavy and warm...just perfect for the cold Colorado winter's night! The draperies are a heavy taffeta in the seaside blue color.
*
The Master Bath...

*
As you can see...the master bath is opened to the bedroom, with the exception of the half wall that seperates the toilet area from the bedroom. I love, love, LOVE having a soaking tub (with jacuzzi jets) in my bedroom! Hmmm...very romantic...don't you think? Hehe!
*
We recently remodeled the bath...adding tile flooring and an "Old World" styled vanity/sink.
*

*
In this photo you can see the antique gold colored faux wall finish. I used the seaside blue as an accent color in the bath area...towels, accessories, etc.
*

*
My soaking tub...ahhh, you gotta love it!
*
I added, ceiling to floor length, soft gold colored sheers in front of each of the four columns. I like how they soften the hard edges of the wall columns...they also offer a bit more privacy to the bath area.
*

*
Just a photo of the dresser and wall opposite the bed.
*
Sooooo...now you've seen my master bedroom in it's winter frocks! I am ready for a change...a lighter...airy...look for summer!
*
Dreaming of a Summer Metamorphosis...
*

*
Here is a little "idea board" that I have put together for my master bedroom's summer decor.
*
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post...I just fell in love with this bedding from Pottery Barn...it's called "Painterly Paisley". I love the paisley pattern...it reminds me a bit of seashells. I also love the soft gold, taupe, and grays on the white background. The gold color in the bedding is a nice match to the existing soft gold sheer column draperies. I am thinking about using the same sheers on the window behind my bed...it would certainly lighten things up! I have even considered repainting...but must admit that I don't know if I want to go to that much work! Hehe!
*
Ohhh yes...I have already ordered the "Painterly Paisley" bedding from Pottery Barn! I am sooo excited to see it!
*
*

Today I am joining in with...
*

*
Please go by and see what Susan has for us today...I know it will be a real treat! Thank you, Susan...for hosting this marvelous Met Monday party for us!!!

Well my friends....I'm so glad that you came by today for a little peek at the summer decor plans for my master bedroom! I would love to hear your ideas and opinions!!! Do you change your home's decor for each new season? It's alot of work but I think it keeps things fresh and exciting! Hehe!
*
Have a marvelous Monday!!!

Chari, I do change some of the accessories for the different seasons. Our house is also painted in golds and greens and I am always looking for ways to lighten it up. I love your addition of spring greens and the changes you plan for the bedroom. I am looking forward to seeing the new summer look.

Chari, go for it! We changed our bedding and a few accessories for summer. This is the first time we've done it and I couldn't be happier. Of course, those Pottery Barn ads are so tempting...got me! If I were in your shoes I'd keep that paint color..at least to start with. You might love it with your new summer linens and then love it again in the fall.

Hello Chari,
Girlfriend, this is going to be good! That bedding is gorgeous and I bet your mind is turning with all kind of great decorating ideas! I love how it is now, so warm and cozy! But I also know how we like our change. My bedroom is pretty airy and summery, so I look for ways to warm it up in the winter.
I love your little planning board too, that is so clever and fun!
I loved your note too, so glad to hear from you!
Is it hot out there?
We have been cool, in the low 70's the last few days.
Hugs,
Cindy

Chari, I love all the color you have now, but I understand the urge to go lighter for the summer. I'm going through the same thing myself.

I bet it'll be beautiful and you may not want to go back after you've changed it.

Are you changing the drapery too?
