The Wondrous Colors of Autumn...A Study in Leaves

*
*
Hello my friends...I hope you're having a fabulous day!
*
I am happy to report that autumn has arrived in my little corner of Colorful Colorado!  Happy you ask?  Yes...happy...because I LOVE autumn!!!  Our first cold front of the season blew in Tuesday night.  Our high temperature for Wednesday and Thursday only reached into the 60's...with the low's dropping down into the high 30's.  Brrrr!!!  It won't take many days of this type of weather...and the leaves will begin singing their praise of autumn!  I love the vibrant yellows, oranges, and reds...sooo pretty!
*
As I am sitting here contemplating whether or not I should turn the heater on, I thought I would share a post from last September that I dedicated to "autumn leaves".  I hope that you enjoy!

~The Wondrous Colors of Autumn...A Study in Leaves~
and an Autumn Vignette
*
I have a white pillar column, that measures about 24 ins. in height, sitting in the corner of my dining room. When it came time to do a little autumn decorating, I looked for something that I could place on top of the column to bring a little autumn color to that corner of the room. Hmmm...I feel an autumn vignette coming on! wink!
*
I decided to arrange a few tall stems of faux autumn leaves in a large pitcher. I have had this pitcher for quite some time...it's one of my favorites. I love, love, LOVE...the mustard yellow color...the beautiful embossed grapes, vines, and leaves. And...I love that this piece of pottery has been distressed...the burnt orange color of the clay base is peeking through in several places.
*
This pretty pitcher also has a matching plate. The plate is decorated with embossed grapes and vines as well. I love the handles on each side of the plate...they look like a twisted grapevine. Soooo pretty!!! There was just enough room on the plate...at the base of the pitcher...to add a few of my wooden acorns.

I love how warm autumn colors look against my olive green walls.

~Autumn Leaves and a Stained Glass Window~
*
*
Just above the autumn arrangement, you'll see a stained glass window inset into the wall. This wall is very narrow...about 4 ft. wide...it divides the dining room from the living room. My late mother-in-law was a stained glass artist. Although she did not do this piece herself, my husband had the window made...using the stained glass from his mother's collection. It really is a beautiful piece and adds a unique architectural detail to the dining and living rooms.
*
I took a few photos. I thought the autumn leaves looked sooo pretty in front of the stained glass window!

The angel is dressed in the most beautiful shades of blues and purples! I love the detail of her wings!!!

~A Study of Autumn Leaves Through Photographs~
*
**
I recently purchased a new camera...something with a few more options than your regular "point and shoot" camera. I have enjoyed playing...getting a few close-up photos of the autumn leaves. I have decided that I would like to be a photographer when I grow up! wink! Hehe!

*
Of course, I took many more close-up photos of the autumn leaves, but I thought I would share these with you. I love how you can see the minute details of the little lavender and purple seeded stems...they look sooo pretty against the green leaves! And...I love how the soft autumn colors are muted in the background of the photos!

Autumn Leaves in Frosted Frames...
*
I took a few of the autumn leaf photos over to Ed's Flickr Toys at Big Huge Labs and added a "frosted frame" that is offered under the "framing" option. I thought the autumn leaf photos looked sooo pretty with the frosted frames! In fact, I decided to make a new blog header using a few of these photos.

An Autumn Table Centerpiece...

*
*
Hello my friends...I hope you're having a fabulous day!
*
It's another beautiful day here at my place...with an expected high of 77 degrees...it really is beginning to feel alot more like autumn!  I am really enjoying dressing my home for autumn this year (of course, I always enjoy decorating for the different seasons).  Today, I think I will work on "autumnizing" the hutch in my dining room.  Right now it's full of summer whites and apple green. It's time to bring out the autumn dishes!
*
Well dear friends...while I busy myself with cleaning, organizing, and decorating...I thought I would revisit an autumn post from last year.  I hope that you enjoy!

Autumn in a French Country Dining Room
*
*
My french country dining room is decorated in shades of red, gold, and olive green so basically it is already dressed and ready for autumn. Sure makes decorating for this season a breeze!
*
~~A New Autumn Centerpiece for the Table~~
*

*
I found the three tiered pedestal cake plates on sale at Hobby Lobby last year. I have been really anxious to do a table centerpiece with them. They measure 13", 10", 8" wide...and are 13" tall when stacked on top of one another. They make a nice sized centerpiece for the dining table. Adding the tall pillar candle to the top plate gives this centerpiece an overall measurement of 20 inches in height.
*
~~Autumn Pretties~~
*

Ohhh...I had fun decorating this!
*
Bottom plate: I used an autumn berry garland done with gold, orange, red, and olive green colored berries, four autumn floral picks with dark red flowers, cattails, etc., a few woody pieces from an autumn potpourri mix, and two vintage ceramic yellow birds.
*
Middle plate: Autumn pears.
*
Top plate: A six inch yellow-gold pillar candle, autumn potpourri mix, and four copper colored maple leaf napkin rings.
*
It was easy-peasy!!! Hehe!
*

*
~~A New Autumn Table Runner~~
*
This new autumn table runner was handcrafted by Mary Steininger of Diningout...Embroidered Home Decor...Etsy Shop. It really is gorgeous...I love the deep, rich gold color! It has beautiful embroidered white, twig looking vines on each end of the runner. Ooops...I didn't get a good photo of the embroidery. I also have six matching dinner napkins...sooo pretty and sooo perfect for the autumn season!
*
~~Roseville Pottery Candleholders~~
*
I decided to use my Roseville pottery candleholders. This pattern is called Autumn Clematis.
*

*
And Voila...a new autumn centerpiece for my dining room table!
I hope you enjoyed!
