Hello my friends!
*
Welcome to the 111th run of "Sunday Favorites"
*
I hope that you're having a wonderful weekend, my friends!  I do believe that I am "knee deep" in the "dog days of summer"!  It has been sooo very hot here...my energy level is slowly...but surely...being depleted!  Eeeks!!!  I know that we just started the month of August but I'm already looking forward to Autumn...and cooler weather!  I know that I say this about the same time every year...I'm sooo predictable!  Hehe!
**
Today for Sunday Favorites, I thought I would share one of my "favorite" posts called "A Treasured Family Heirloom"...originally posted on August 9, 2009.  I hope that you enjoy!  I'm looking forward to seeing your Sunday Favorites posts this week and visiting with you, my friends!  You can sign up for the party at the end of this post!
*
Have a super Sunday!

It's Metamorphosis Monday!!!

Hello my friends! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend and are ready to begin a new week! There is one great thing about Mondays....it's the day that we can share some of our latest home projects...it's Metamorphosis Monday!

Metamorphosis Monday is hosted by our very own Susan over at Between Naps On The Porch! Thank you Susan, for hosting this fun filled event!!! Be sure that when you're finished reading all about my latest project...that you'll go over and see what Susan has for you today...and while you're there you can check out all of the other Met Monday participants as well!

My Grandma's China Hutch
*
Today I would like to show you my Grandma's china hutch! Recently we took a vacation down to Texas and I was able to bring home with me this treasured piece that belonged to my Grandma!
*
My Grandma and Grandpa were very simple people. They lived in a very small home and they didn't have much but they lived comfortably! My Grandpa gave this hutch to my Grandma as a gift for their 50th wedding anniversary! Ohhh...you should have seen the look on my Grandma's face when the furniture store truck came to deliver this...she was just beside herself with joy...and my Grandpa was so pleased with himself!!! It was priceless!!! I'll never forget that day...it is such a sweet memory for me! Now I have this sweet hutch in my home and whenever I look at it...I think of my Grandma and Grandpa and that special day!!!
**
"Before"
*
Here it is...my Grandma's china hutch!
It's a small hutch and it fits perfectly in this little corner of my dining room!
*
*
Decorating My New Hutch....
*
*
*I have a shelf up above my dining room window where I display a few of my white ironstone and creamware pitchers. Since the hutch sits right next to this window...I thought it would look pretty to do a vignette on top of hutch...using items that were white!
*
*
I found this pretty iron birdcage at Hobby Lobby for 50% off...I paid $15.00 for it! It had a bronze finish which I liked, but I wanted white...so out came the can of spray paint! Hehe!
*
These two unfinished ceramic birds came from GW...they were marked down to $1 ea...I wasn't sure what I would do with them when I bought them...but now I know!!! The little white chickadee will look perfect nestled into the greenery that I purchased to add to the birdcage!
**
*
Voila!!! A vignette for the china hutch!!!
*
I used a silverware chest to place the birdcage on. The frenchy pitcher is a recent thrift store treasure find...it will work perfectly for this vignette in white! On the opposite side, I placed a large artichoke finial...found it at Hobby Lobby for just $2.60...it was marked 90% off! It was gold...but not now...thanks to that can of white spray paint! Hehe!
*
*
*
*
*
I had so much fun filling up my new china hutch with dishes. Of course these were dishes that I already had! Since my dining room walls on this side of the room are olive green...I decided to put all of my dishes that are green and white in this cabinet!
*
*
The olive green transferware dishes are ironstone manufactured by Staffordshire...the pattern is Kensington Balmoral 1801. I also added my set of white ironstone called "Provencal", sage green everyday dishes from Walmart, and my new shell dishes called "Water" from JC Penneys to the hutch...and a few odds-n-ends pieces of ironstone!
*
*
Just a photo so you could see the shelf above the dining room window and a few of my ironstone and creamware pitchers! Wow...it was really raining out the day I took this photo! Hehe!
*
*My dear sweet Grandma and me!
*
*
*Well my friends...thank you so much for stopping by today! Please leave me a comment and let me know that you were here...I would love to visit with you!!!
*
Love ya'll,
Chari

***Just a little note: Sunday Favorites Criteria***
*
When I first started the Sunday Favorites meme, my initial thought was to offer a solution for getting a post out on the weekend without having to spend alot of time doing so...weekends are just a busy time for most of us! Copying and pasting a previous post is so quick and easy. Not only is this a quick and easy solution to the busy weekends, but it's also an opportunity to dig back into our blog archives and share a favorite "past" post once again! Many of us spend alot of time and effort creating a post and it just seems a shame that it is viewed only once and then forgotten about!
*
I would like to reiterate that Sunday Favorites is a meme about sharing or revisiting a post from the PAST!
*
Thank you!!! *

Chari, your hutch looks very nice after you added your special touches . The green and white dishes are so pretty. I have a set of birds that look exactly like yours and I painted them white. I guess great minds think alike!

Chari,
I wasn't blogging when you first posted this (don't think I even knew what a blog was at that time)so, of course, I'm thrilled. We truly are such kindred spirits, dear friend. I, too, have my grandmother's buffet (which "Mr.Ed") made into a hutch! Amazing!!! I, also, have sage green dinnerware...very similar. And oh, those pears on the top shelf. Scary, I know! But WAIT...I use to drive an automobile EXACTLY like the one out your dining room window! Too MUCH...too MUCH! I enjoyed this post so very much!
Fondly,
Pat
