Hello my friends!
*
Welcome to the 108th run of "Sunday Favorites"
*
I hope that you're having a wonderful weekend!  It's another busy, busy weekend here at my place!  My sister and brother-in-law from Texas will be here any time!  I'm sooo looking forward to seeing Rhonda and John and catching up on all the family news!  My entire family lives in Texas.  I'm kind of the "lone ranger" living clear up here in Colorado.  While I love living in Colorado, I do feel like I am missing out on so much where my family is concerned.  I'm sure that some of you can relate.
*
Anyway...I'm not sure what all is on the agenda while my Sis is here.  I decided to go forth with this Sunday Favorites party but I will be cancelling the Sunday Favorites party next weekend...July 17th.  I do apologize but I have a feeling that I will be busier than usual and there is a possibility that I will be away from home.
*
Today for Sunday Favorites, I thought I would share one of my "favorite" posts called "Playing with Photo Effects"...originally posted on September 3, 2010.  I hope that you enjoy!  I'm looking forward to seeing your Sunday Favorites posts this week.  You can sign up for the party at the end of this post!
*
Have a super Sunday!!!

Hello my friends...I hope you're having a fabulous day!
*
Today I am joining in "A Few of my Favorite Things Saturday" party.
You will find the credits for this fun filled party at the end of the post.
*
Playing with Photo Effects...Sooo Fun!
*
One of my favorite things to do...is to play with photo effects! So I thought I might share with you a few of the photos from a recent post that I did called "A Summer's Tea on the Veranda". I will show the "real" photo first and then I will show you a couple different photo effects of the real photo.
*
These photo effects are one of the fun features that Photobucket offers.
If you would like to go over to Photobucket to check it out...you can click HERE.

I often use a photo effect from one of my "real" photos to make an "introduction photo" to announce my post subject. I always have so much fun playing with Photobucket's photo effects. The photo above was achieved using the "color sketch" effect option. Then I added a border/frame and text to the photo...and Voila!!!

This photo may look like I used a photo effect...however, I didn't! The lighting was just right on my veranda at the time I took this photo. The back side of the veranda was in the shade...thus making for a very dark, almost black...background behind the teapot and teacup. I just thought it turned out so pretty! It's one of my favorite photos!!!

Well my friends, thank you for indulging one of my favorite things to do...playing with photo effects!
Do you have a favorite?

Photography...and a New Camera
*
I have also really enjoyed the photography part of blogging! I admit that I'm a mere amateur but I am desiring to learn more. I am thinking about getting a new camera. The camera that I use now is just a regular "point and shoot"...Sony Cybershot. Do you have any suggestions for a good DSL camera...I sure would appreciate your input, my friends!
*
July 9, 2011..Just a little update since this post was originally published.
I did get a new camera...a Pentax K-x!  It has so many "options" that I have just begun to scratch the surface on learning how to operate it!  Hehe!  But...I am loving it and would recommend this make and model to anyone!  So far...there are a couple of HUGE differences that I have experienced between a "point and shoot" camera and a DSL camera.  First, the clarity and clearness of the photos are HUGE and secondly, I can take photos in darker areas and still get great photos.  I'm still learning but having sooo much fun!

Have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend, sweet friends!

***Just a little note: Sunday Favorites Criteria***
*
When I first started the Sunday Favorites meme, my initial thought was to offer a solution for getting a post out on the weekend without having to spend alot of time doing so...weekends are just a busy time for most of us! Copying and pasting a previous post is so quick and easy. Not only is this a quick and easy solution to the busy weekends, but it's also an opportunity to dig back into our blog archives and share a favorite "past" post once again! Many of us spend alot of time and effort creating a post and it just seems a shame that it is viewed only once and then forgotten about!
*
I would like to reiterate that Sunday Favorites is a meme about sharing or revisiting a post from the PAST!
*
Thank you!!!

Love all of these effects. One of these days I've got to steal the time to play with them.

You, dear sweet soul...your comment and sweet visit did my heart good...especially when I had made such a blunder and hit a wrong button and ran a post of last Christmas by mistake! Thank you for your kindness...Kind deeds change lives! Knowing you has changed my life for the better. I am blessed!
Fondly,

What an interesting technique. It depends on the picture as to what effect i like. I am anxious to give this a whirl. Thanks for the idea and thank you for hosting

I love those pics - I may need to play with those effects myself.

I agree! Playing with different photo effects is so much fun. :) The sketch versions would be helpful for me, I could use that trick to help myself with drawing! :)

I'd forgotten how cool those effects could be! Thanks for sharing them again Chari. I hope you have a wonderful visit with your family! Most of my family live close by and many times I wish they lived a few states away *winks* So you're lucky to feel that way my friend! Lol! Vanna

What pretty china and lovely photos with such fun photo effects.
I don't know much about my camera either, I know I could take better photos if I ever bothered to learn about it.
