I hope that you're having a wonderful weekend! I'm off to the big city today to do a little Christmas shopping! We live way out in the sticks and it's about a two hour drive to get to any major shopping! I'm also still trying to finish up the Christmas decorating...ohhh my...so much to do! Hehe!
Today for Sunday Favorites I thought I would revisit a post from the winter of 2008. I share a great recipe for hot cocoa. I don't know about you...but it's cold at my place and hot cocoa is a nice way to warm the old bones!
Have a super Sunday, my friends!

Just a little note: Sunday Favorites Criteria
When I first started the Sunday Favorites meme, my initial thought was to offer a solution for getting a post out on the weekend without having to spend alot of time doing so...weekends are just a busy time for most of us! Copying and pasting a previous post is so quick and easy. Not only is this a quick and easy solution to the busy weekends, but it's also an opportunity to dig back into our blog archives and share a favorite "past" post once again! Many of us spend alot of time and effort creating a post and it just seems a shame that it is viewed only once and then forgotten about!
I would like to reiterate that Sunday Favorites is a meme about sharing or revisiting a post from the PAST!
Thank you!!!

Aren't these just the cutest little snowmen cups....I just have a "thing" for snowmen!!! I found this cute little ceramic snowman set at the Dollar General. The big snowman in the center is a canister.....just right for holding my homemade hot cocoa mix! It was only $3....the snowmen cups were only $2 ea. One of the reasons they caught my attention is that they are really 3 dimensional....I just love em'!!!

This is a corner in my kitchen! I just love this little table...it's old...naturally distressed...hehe! I love the big chunky table legs (as you can see the paint is peeling...I love it!) The table top is metal. Our home was built in the 1920's....when my honey bought it, it hadn't been lived in since the 50's....this little table was left in the house and my honey had it outside on the back patio when I came to live here....I quickly rescued it and brought it into my kitchen...hehe!!! My snowmen seem to be very happy here...see their smiles? Oh yes....as you can probably see....I just love green plants....this one is monster sized and has just about taken over the corner but I don't have the nerve to cut it! It sits in one of those old copper pots....I know they have a name, I bet my friend Gloria could tell you what they were used for!

Another view from our back door....

Just beyond the pine trees.....lies this big ol' field....it's always so pretty in snow!!!

This photo was taken of the west side of our house.....

This is really one of my favorite winter photos....doesn't the tree all dressed in it's winter finery look pretty? The photo just doesn't capture the beauty....I remember the day I took the photo, the tree just sparkled....it was like millions of little cyrstal jewels hung from the branches....and against that blue sky.....Oooooh!!!
*
*
Our little black furbabies....hehe!!! They don't seem to mind the cold snow at all....hehe!!!
*
*
Well....after all of that trampling through the snow....I know that you're ready for a cup of hot cocoa!!! Let me fix you a cup!!!
*
*
I know that there are many hot cocoa recipes....this is the one that I like to make! I just prefer homemade hot cocoa....it tastes so much better than that ol' boxed mix stuff. I make a big batch of it every winter at Christmas time....then I put it pretty Christmas canisters and give it as gifts!

Hot Cocoa Mix
*
1 - 8 qt. box of Carnation's dry powdered milk mix (25.6 oz. box)
2 lb. box of Nestle's Quick
6 oz. Coffee Mate coffee creamer
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
It's really so easy! I like to use about 1/3 cup of cocoa mix to a mug of boiling water. This recipe makes 28 cups of hot cocoa. Sometimes I get adventurous and I add different flavored coffee creamers to the mix....like Amaretto or Irish Cream....it's really good!!!

Hi Chari..
I think I did it right this time..
We love cocoa , so I am keeping this recipe for sure. We got snow yesterday. Watching the flakes fall was fun..
Thank you for hosting this party for us.. Its fun looking back..
Holiday hugs

Hi Chari!
Your photos are spectacular. Mother Nature really is the most amazing decorator, isn't she?
And we have SNOWMEN in common -- I love them, and love your little mugs. I remember my Mom had little Santa mugs very similar, but I don't know what happened to them. :-(
Yummy cocoa recipe. Would be great for serving a crowd!
Love, Cass
Hello Chari! Thanks for sharing those great pictures and post from a while ago. I enjoyed looking at your white Christmas memories.
Thanks for having me and best wishes for a happy Sunday,
Natasha.
What a wonderful post, I love your Snowmen mugs, they are just so cute! Your snow photos are so lovely, I love the look of snow, it matches my love for white on white, I think, it's perfect just the way that it is. I used to make that recipe for Hot Cocoa, my hubby and I have it often, sometimes that is our desert after supper.
Love and hugs, Cindy
Hi there,
Thanks for sharing the link - but unfortunately it seems to be down? Does anybody here at happytodesign.blogspot.com have a mirror or another source?
Thanks,
Oliver
Thanks for hosting again. Your post fits right in with our suddenly very cold weather here in the southeast. Except we don't have that beautiful snow! Have a wonderful week, my friend!
I always love looking at your vignettes. They are always so pretty and I would love some cocoa. The snow is beautiful to look at, just glad I'm not out in it. Hugs, Marty
