Hello my friends!!!

Welcome to the 71st run of "Sunday Favorites"!!!

I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend! Here we are...mid-stride into the month of September and autumn has arrived in Colorful Colorado! Although we are still experiencing warm days...the nights have grown quite a bit cooler. The leaves are just beginning to turn...ahhh, one of the things that I like best about autumn!

You know, I was thinking about how I always go on and on...about how I love autumn. Let me explain. I moved to Colorado about ten years ago, before moving here...I lived in south Texas. Yes, I'm a transplanted Texan! Hehe! I lived in south Texas for 30 years. Now let me tell ya...this is how the seasons worked down there. It was hot...and then it was cold! It seemed that most of the year was spent trying to keep cool...and then BANG!...the first cold front would move in and from then on out...it was cold! We would move from summer...right into winter. Autumn and Spring just never really happened in south Texas! I never experienced the leaves turning color! I know...I know...I'm not looking for sympathy...well, maybe just a little! Wink...hehe! This is why I love autumn sooo much!!! Autumn is simply glorious here in Colorado!!! Anyway, I just thought I would explain my "obsession" with autumn!

Soooo...in light of my "autumn obsession", I thought I would revisit a post from November, 2009 for Sunday Favorites this week. It was Thanksgiving and time for a special autumn tablescape. I hope that you enjoy!

Wishing you all a super Sunday!!!

Hello my friends...Happy Thanksgiving!!!
*
There are many things that I am thankful to the Lord for this Thanksgiving! I am thankful for my friends and family...my health...having a shelter over my head and food on my table...just to name a few!!! I am also so very thankful for YOU!!! My prayer for this Thanksgiving season is that the Lord richly bless you and your families!!! May you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
*
It's a busy season for all of us! I have been busy preparing for our Thanksgiving get together. Our Thanksgiving will be fairly informal this year...with just Russell and I and our two children, however I am fixing the traditional Thanksgiving meal...with turkey and all the fixin's!
*
Whew...the turkey is thawing...the house is clean...and I have our Thanksgiving table set!!!
*
I wanted to share our Thanksgving table with you today. I know that you are very busy and I promise that I won't be so "wordy" today! Hehe! I have lots of photos...but few words! I hope you enjoy!!!

An informal Thanksgiving table set for four.

The Centerpiece

*
I found this pretty ornate metal pumpkin at Hobby Lobby a few months back. I placed a few autumn florals, acorns, pinecones, and berries inside the pumpkin. I used one of my glass pedistal plates to elevate the pumpkin and then decorated beneath the pedistal plate with a few more autumn florals, berries, and pinecones. Roseville "Clematis...in autumn brown" candleholders grace each side of the pumpkin centerpiece.
*
Ohhh my...we can't have a tablescape without a few sweet autumn birds! I just love the two brown ceramic birds that I found at Michaels. They're little wings are embossed with acorns, autumn leaves, and pretty scrolled designs!
*
Why...even a pretty red cardinal has landed atop an acorn that is sitting on top of the pumpkin!!!
*

*
The Place Setting

*
I am using my new dishes that I found at TJ Maxx a couple of months ago! I just love, love, LOVE these dishes! Love the vibrant autumn colors and those sweet birds!!! They are manufactured by Royal Stafford of Burslem, England.

The Salad/Dessert Plate

*

*
The Dinner Plate

*

*
Acorn Plate

*
These sweet little acorn plates came from the Dollar General...only $1 ea. They'll be just perfect for the olives, pickles, and other fresh veggies from the relish plate!
*

*
Table Linens

*
I found this pretty brown tablecloth at TJ Maxx. Love the red, yellow, and orange threads that form the subtle plaid in the fabric!
*
The autumn plaid dinner napkins coordinate with the tablecloth. The coppery, maple leaf napkin rings come from Walmart.
*

*
The Flatware

*
This is my late mother-in-law's silverplate flatware. It's so ornate...I just love it!!! It's manufactured by Oneida...pattern: Brahms.
*
Autumn Birds...

A couple of close-ups of the sweet little autumn birds.

An Autumn Pitcher

*
I have had this pretty pitcher for a number of years. I have always loved the vibrant colors and pretty clusters of grapes and leaves on this piece! It's one of my favorite pitchers and usually sits atop the frig in my kitchen! I thought it would go perfectly with our Thanksgiving tablescape!
*

*
I'm using my amber colored goblets...the gold looks pretty with this place setting don't you think?

  1. I can totally see why this post is one of your favourites!! Everything is so well coordinated and looks very autumnal! That centerpiece is to die for! Love the wire pumpkin and how you filled it with berries, etc. The birdie plates are lovely and the pumpkin bowls are gorgeous. Will you be able to top that tablescape this year? It will be hard! I can not imagine going straight from summer to winter as you experienced in Texas! Here in BC, Canada we get to enjoy all the seasons which I truly do!

  2. Hi Chari! First let me say I love this favorite's post. I love the little red bird and the pitcher with all the grapes would look great in my kitchen :-)

Second let me say that it's 90 degrees outside and I just ran out for a bit to go to the drug store and in the car it feels like 110! We're still aways away from Autumn so I doubled enjoyed your post.

    Thanks for hosting!

  5. Gorgeous table, Chari. I can see why it is a favorite. Your table is full of texture and beautiful details.

As someone who grew up in south Texas, I can totally relate. Here in central Texas we are beginning to have some cooler temps. The mornings are really pleasant and the evenings are dipping down to the low 70s. Hopefully cooler temps in general will arrive soon.

Hope you'll stop in to see me over at the QCI blog where I'm sharing a tea party for Sunday Favorites.

  9. Oh so pretty. Everything looks so beautiful. I love all of the detail. Your new (new last year) plates are beautiful and the touches of acorns everywhere lend the perfect feeling of fall. And elevating the pumpkin on the simple glass cake plate was just the right touch. Great table! Definately worthy or a rerun!

  11. Chari, I'm starting to wonder where you keep all those BEAUTIFUL dishes!

What a gorgeous Thanksgiving table you set. Absolutely lovely.

PS I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the pickle fork. I thought, "Is that Brahms? Maybe Chari will show the silverware..." Sure enough, you did, and it was Brahms, which is my own Mama's pattern. It was burgled a year ago, but thank goodness, the insurance paid to replace it--Yay! (Cuz Mama loves that set, I do believe, even more than she loves her sterling!)

  14. The Museum is open daily from 10 am to 5:45 pm except on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Other websites such a SlideShare (slideshare.net) offer a wealth of presentation material, not just for educational purposes. The light microscope. This was largely due to the marginalization of them by her detractors. This lesson is about the parts of a microscope.
