Hello my friends! I hope that your first week in our brand new year is going fabulously for you!!!
Hello my friends! I hope that your first week in our brand new year is going fabulously for you!!!
*
I love decorating my home for Christmas...but...Ohhhh my!!! I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with the task of taking all the Christmas down and packing it away for another year! Ohhh...and then there is the clean-up! Well I don't have to tell you...you ladies know!
*
*
My old fibromyalgia muscles and bones have really been giving me fits lately...between the extra work of the holidays and the cold winter weather...my body is just screamin' at me! Nevertheless, there is work that needs to be done!!!
*
Sooooo....
*
The lady of the house looked over the rim of her glasses as she sipped on her morning cup of coffee. "Ohhh my!" she said. "The Christmas decorations look so pretty but they really must come down! There are Santas and reindeer...ribbons and bows...and then there are all of those ornaments...Ohhh my!"
*
With a long deep breath and empty boxes in hand...she whispered a prayer for help. "Oh Lord, with your help, I think I can. I think I can!"
*
*
So away with the wreaths and the dust underneath.
Away with the snowman...I think I can, I think I can!
Angels and mistletoe, candles and more...
With broom in hand...sweeping the floor!
*
Ohhhh no...Ohhh no...there is still more!
*
The Nativity...baby Jesus, Joseph and Mary.
Up the stairs, more boxes she carried!
Ornaments...ornaments...ornaments galore!
They seemed to multiply...there's more than before.
*
One by one, down they came...
The Christmas house wasn't looking the same.
Away with the garland, away with the gold...
Only the woman knew what the future would behold!
*
With Christmas away...tears shed for its fate...
Dreams of a new decor now filled the slate!
Once again while sipping her cup...with plans in hand,
Once again while sipping her cup...with plans in hand,
she uttered the words...I think I can! I think I can!!!
*
Hehe...okay, I was having way too much fun!!!
*
*
Hehe...okay, I was having way too much fun!!!
*
*
I CAN DO IT!!!
*
As you can see...I'm having to "psyche" myself up here! Hehe!
*

Well my friends, it will probably take me the rest of the week to get all my Christmas put away...house cleaned up, etc. I do declare that it takes me sooo much longer because of the fibromyalgia! So this will be my last post for a little while but you can be sure that I'll be by for a visit! It usually goes something like this...do a little work...sit down for a blog break...do a little work...sit down for a blog break! I think you get the jist of it!!! Hehe!!!

Love ya'll,
Chari

I so understand the do a little, take a break. I haven't begun my taking down of Christmas yet...enjoying the last few days of them then I know, I must.
You can do it Chari!
I completely understand. I was exhausted after packing all of our stuff up as well. Yikes!
Good Luck! ~Melissa :)
Oh Chari this is so funny - you will have to go see what I posted about the same time you posted yours!
blessings friend
mary
I have been getting all mine down and put away too! Not near as much fun as putting it up!
Hope you are feeling better and don't overdo it!!
Lou Cinda :)
Hang in there, Chari! Just look at the photos of your beautiful Christmas decor and remember how worthwhile it was. Tackle just a little bit each day. Great post!
Cute post Chari!!! I could never rhyme like that. I still need to put my decorations away. I really dread that part. My plan was to have it all put away this past weekend. But going to the movies, shopping, watching movies on TV & napping all got in the way. Maybe this weekend. I told my hubby it would be down by Valentine's day. You should have seen the look he shot me. At least you have a physical excuse for taking so long. Don't rush yourself & do take lots of blogging breaks.
Kim
What a cute post Chari! Putting it all away is never as much fun as putting it up to begin with. Lucky me, Cait was home and she put it all away before I came home from work one day! If you'd like, I'll see if she rents out lol. Take it easy, don't overdo it and you will get it done. Kathy
Mine are still up and I'm still enjoying them. I have started to think about taking everything down, if that counts.
I'm really considering leaving my tree up and decorating it for the different seasons. Last time I did that I made it until Valentine's Day...but now I have more room..and I do love a challenge. What do you think?
I understand doing a little and then resting. I was lucky and had no flair ups while taking down my decorations. Happy New Year.
Go..go...go!! My Christmas is long gone and I'm into projects. However, I still have yucky floors and clutter everywhere.
I have no energy and gumption for getting mine all down and put away. I still have gingerbread in the kitchen and my cardinals in the living room BUT I have taken down the trees. The kids are going on an overnighter out of town on Friday night and I hope to get the rest finished then. I'm looking forward to it being down :)
Such a fun post!
Blessings!
Gail
I, too, have been doing a little and then taking a LONG break. I got the Christmas down o.k., but now am trying to get the ironing caught up. Stop by on one of your breaks - would love to hear from you. Sally
take your time...it will all get done!
This is one year I don't have to worry with taking it down. The water damage did it for me, hehe Kathy
I can certainly understand this!! Did you write that great poem?
What a cute post and I feel your pain! Sweet poem that says it all. Keep at it and you'll eventually get it all done. Hope your fibromyalgia leaves you alone so you can get your work done! Have a restful evening!
Hang in there dear Chari!
I feel your pain girl! I got my decorations down but the house still needs a lot of organizing and this awful cold is making me ache all over too! Wouldn't a nice little trip to a warm place be so nice about now! Too bad us bloggers couldn't do a blogger cruise together, now wouldn't that be a blast! Hugs, Cindy
You have a great system! Working with lots of blog breaks sprinkled in! I'm having a baby shower in a couple weeks...so I'm just going to leave a lot of my decorations up...LOL I'm going to take off the Christmas decorations and make baby shower decorations and put on the tree..My house looks so much more festive with the decorations up...and my friend hasn't seen any of my decorations this year... they'll come down the last week of Jan...shhhh that's my little secret...hugs to you Chari..don't work tooo hard girl!
Sonia/Miss Bloomers
Hmm...you remind me of why I haven't started to taken them down yet.
I must start soon.

I agree with you it's a lot of work.
Hugs
Charo
Girl, I'm with you on this post! I am determined to "git er done" this week! :-)
XO,
Sheila
Very cute, Chari! LOL! I started putting away some too but just like you, am overwhlemed. We are going to FL day after tomorrow to visit the kids so it looks like it has to wait till we come back. Hope 2010 has been good to you so far....Christine
Chari,
I loved the poem!! Such wit!! You are truely one of the most creative ladies I have had the pleasure to meet!! I can relate with your body aches, because I too have the same.
Do take your time with cleanup and be gentle and patient with your body. Enjoy a warm soak in a bath of epsom salts, it helps me sometimes.
I will drop by next week to see how you are doing.
Blessings,
Pam
I am feeling the same way!
I'm not sure I think I can.
Maybe I'll feel more ready ro act when I get home from the
DENTIST!!!!!!
Great poetry, You!
Why when I take it all down everyone in my home disappears that day? I actually took it down the last day all my kids were here visiting. I took it down and packed it but they moved the boxes back into storage for me so I was happy. I love that my house now looks so neat and naked:)
Joyce
Oh my sweet friend I'm so sorry to hear your downs again...and YES you can do it and it will be wonderful as everything you do...Girl I wish we lived closer so I could help you lay down...Hey I'm always up for a nap ha ha!!
I thought I would mug Len when he came home the other day with my pain pills...Oh girl I was hurting so bad...I have to go next week for my bone scan to see how much more bone tissue I have lost this past year....I have lost an inch in height this past year and I told Len he needs to move the microwave down on the counter for me as it gotten to high for me to get things out of it now....Love ya sis...between us were a pair to draw to....Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
Chari~ Every year it gets a little harder...probably cause I'm getting a LOT older, lol. The fun part is always the set up playing with the mixing and matching.
Do what I do. I put on my favorite tunes to get my legs and feet moving. You know that kind of music that makes you wanna dance.
When my work is done or I succumb to exhaustion...I change the tunes and mood to something more mellow then relax in a soothing bubble bath.
Sweet wishes,
Sara
Dearest Chari;
I so understand!..,
~ Yet dear mama asked me to keep the decorations up until she returned home from her holiday sojourn, because she missed celebarating Christmas this year with my hubby and I; (yet thankfully she thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Christmas this year with her other two daughters, their husbands and her precious grandchildren)!.., Thank God She arrives home
today~ Yay!!
Thank you for your wonderful and kind comments Cheri, they are always so uplifting, deeply encouraging and much apprecited!~
God bless you as well my dear, and give you strength and grace in the new year during 2010, with your fibro-mayalgia!...,
I loved that blog posting regarding your wonderful family my dear, (and I assure you, it was far from being boring)!~ I poured over every picture and sentence with great interest and delight; thank you for sharing!.., They're absolutetly beautiful and spendid!~ No wonder you're proud of them, as you should be!!!..,
Thank you for joining me for tea last Wednesday, for, Wednesday Tea For Me And Thee; I adore having you pop by to visit for a cuppa!..,
Have a "coffee-licious" day my dear, as I know you prefer that elixer as your cup of choice over tea; (other wise I'd say, have a "tea-licious" day~ He he!..,
Enjoy your intermittent rests betwwen the taking down of the Christmas decor honey!~ You're wise to pace yourself!
Take care and may God richly bless you and yours in the coming New Year!..,
Love and hugs from Wanda Lee, a.k.a./ Silken Purse@ The Plumed Pen
Oops!... I also meant to say that I loved the poem and all of the other pretties that you have posted over the last while!..,
What spendid talent you have my dear!
Cheers from Wanda Lee @ The Plumed Pen
Do like me - put a little up, take a nap, put a little up, take a nap... It'll get done by Easter, don't worry. You go girl! Rosie
What a cute post! You're a great writer. I didn't have that much out this year so it didn't take me long to put it away, but it's still not something I look forward to. Best of luck... :-)
Oh Chari, I posted last night on this same subject. How I can relate. Of course my post does not mention my fibro, or even the christmas work. But, it was all certainly part of what I was thinking and feeling when I wrote my post.
Wish I had you way with the humor though. Afraid I get a little to maudlin sometimes.
Dearest Cheri; just "a short and sweet note" after my rather "longish" one earlier..,(My we are kindred spirits aren't we)?!~ He he!..,
I realize your resting between cleanups my dear; (yet as I recall you so sweetly expressed an interest to see "all of my art work", which is sooo dear of you)!..,
..,Thought you'd enjoy "a wee peek" perhaps ,(betwween the cleanup and rests), as there is more of my ART just posted on my blog for Dee Dee's, "Art Work Friday" tomorrow!..,
Cheers, blessings and hugs from Wanda Lee @ The Plumed Pen
Oh, honey, I feel your pain in so many ways...that's why I keep my stuff up UNTIL FEBRUARY! I kid you not! We have our Christmas party the last Saturday in January and we keep the festive spirit through the dreary January. Oh, and I have fibromyalgia, too. Well, I have hypothyroidism, which even though treated with replacement hormone, still leaves me with fibro stuff. At least the treatment helps some! I pray that you feel better! The cold is horrible!!!
Hugs to you and YOU CAN DO IT (or keep the stuff up through Jan like me...hee..hee...)
Blessings, Lana
Good Morning Chari,
I will have to be quick cause my car's running but I just wanted to say hi, wish you a nice week-end, we're having our last family Christmas, and it's so blasted cold, I think we will end up staying in the hotel instead of snow tubing as we had planned! I have my give-away up, come by and enter when you can! Love Ya, Cindy
Hi Chari, I'm so sorry to hear you suffer from that painful ailment. I have a friend who has it too. Just take your time, dear. It has taken me most of the week too to get everything down. Part of the problem is I get sidetracked and along with putting away Christmas, I'm changing around in the living room, cleaning out closets, etc. etc. You get the picture. Happy New Year to Sweet You!
Donna
Chari, Did you write about me? I read this and this is my exact dilemma. Misery loves company and encouragement- Thanks for inspiring me to continue on and "get it done"!
Know that I said a little prayer for me and you!
Yvonne
Oh how cute and clever that was Chari! Hope you are making progress, and I'm saying prayers that your fibromyalgia is getting better. Take care of you. laurie
