"Sunday Favorites" is a new Sunday meme designed to give bloggers a chance to share a favorite post from the past!!!

Hello my friends! Welcome to the 3rd run of "Sunday Favorites"!!!
**
"Sunday Favorites" is a meme designed to give bloggers an opportunity to share, once again, one of their favorite posts! I just love this idea!!! So many fabulous posts have been published...and regrettably, forgotten about...they have been buried under a myriad of previous posts. I just believe these fabulous posts deserve a second showing!!!

We must remember...each new day in Blogland brings new viewers/bloggers. So many haven't seen your fabulous past posts. "Sunday Favorites" will make these posts available for viewing once again!!!

**AND**

Many of us would really like to post something on the weekends, however the weekend is such a busy time! There just isn't time to get a blog post together! "Sunday Favorites" offers an opportunity to get a post out during the weekend without having to spend the time to put one together! Am I talkin the truth now? Hehe!!!

It's so very simple...so easy and with so little time involved! If you're like me, the most time involved will be trying to decide which post to republish! Hehe!!!

For more information on "how to" republish a post...just click HERE
*If you have any questions or I can be of help in anyway...please let me know!

*******

So, without further ado...let's do it!!! Let's join in with "Sunday Favorites" and have some fun!!!

Thank you so much for your participation!!! I am going to really enjoy going through your "Sunday Favorites" posts!!!

Love ya'll,
Chari

It's Met Monday & Blue Monday....

Hello my friends! Welcome to "Met Monday" & "Blue Monday"!

This is my second time to participate in "Met Monday"...it has been so much fun! Hosted by our very own "hostess with the mostest"...Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch! Please do stop by her place and see her beautiful porch transformation! Also you will find a list of blogs that are participating in "Met Monday"! Ahhhh...to create and transform!!!

Whew...talk about squeezing things in...hehe! It is also "Blue Monday" hosted by Sally over at Smiling Sally! She has some beautiful blue going on over at her place and you will also find a list of participants there! Go...go...go and check it out!!!

Blue Metamorphosis in the Master Bedroom

Before beginning, let me just apologize for the very poor quality of these "before" photos...bad camera and very poor photographer (that would be me!)

In the beginning...there was decor...it was a small step, but nevertheless a step ahead! Our master bedroom has an adjoining bath that is open to the room. I know...I know...this concept has freaked alot of people out...hehe! But let me assure you, we do have a lock on the bedroom door....so if privacy is an issue for you...no problem! I used burgandy to decorate the master bedroom in the beginning. This is a photo of my first attempt at decorating our tub area. Note the white walls and terra cotta border tile.

*

Yet another small step forward...my "ode to decorating"! I decided to try to add a little seperation between the bedroom area and bath by adding burgandy and gold shears! I also painted the terra cotta tile border a very pretty burgandy color. One of the largest transformations to this room was the faux wall treatment that I did....an antique gold....done in a Venetian plaster effect!

This next photo was taken during the same time period...just a different view. Note the vanity!

Total rennovation...Our new blue and brown master!

I enjoyed the burgandy, olive green, and gold...but it was time for a change! So during the summer of 2007, rennovation began!

Besides changing the colors of the room to blue and brown...we updated our bathroom. We tore out the carpet and added an old looking Venetian tile to the floor....and put in a new vanity! I just love my new vanity...love the "Old World" look of it! We also added an oil rubbed bronze faucet.

As you notice, I changed the burgandy and gold shears to a plain soft gold shear...hung straight down instead of swagged. I just like the feel of the shears...not only does it offer a bit of privacy but it really softens the hard lines of the columns between the bath and bedroom area!

Just another view of the bath area....a few new accessories!

A view of the little iron shelf that I added above the toilet...

Full view of the bedroom....

New seaside blue drapes....I purchased the drapes from Penneys, they're called Panache and made of taffeta...they are some of the most beautiful drapes I've ever saw! They hang so beautifully!!! I added new bedding, also purchased from Penneys..it's a very heavy comforter and just perfect for the cold Colorado winters. It's done in a soft chocolatey brown and seaside blue.

Close-up of the new bedding

A new dresser and accessories. I also added new wall art! Oh yes, I forgot to mention that we also replace the carpet in the bedroom area...you can kind of see it in this photo.

Close-up of the new wall art. I found the pretty plaster panels at Hobby Lobby for just $4 each...on sale, of course! hehe!!! They have a touch of seaside blue on them...can you see?

I also wanted to change out the art above my bedside cabinets. I used pretty blue and brown scrapbook papers, arranged them in a frame...sooo easy and really inexpensive! I was happy with how they turned out!

and there you have it, my friends! The story of our master bed and bath "blue metamorphosis"!!!

I'm so happy that you stopped by for a visit...I love to read your comments...so talk to me...hehe!!!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Love ya'll,
Chari

Oh Chari,
This is just wonderful! It's so romantic and the colors are so pretty. I love all the pillows on the bed and that dresser is just the best! Your bath is pretty and the new flooring and vanity are wonderful! I remember you from RMS too and I loved your stuff then and love it now! Its funny how many of us have started blogs after RMS but I think it was the mean spiritedness of some, that drove many away. Blogging friends are all just so nice and we have so much in common. Happy Sunday Favorites and of course Mothers Day again. LOL, hugs, Cindy

Hi Chari! Tomorrow, I am getting up early because John is taking me to the airport for an early flight to Florida. Rochelle bought a house so they moved out of our FL house. My son is picking me up from the airport to take me directly to Rochelle's house for a luncheon with all my kids and grandkids. Then I am driving my car and following Tina and family to Cape Coral and I will stay with them until Wed. I am making wedding favors there for my stepdaughter's wedding for Sun, the 17th. And then I drive back to Tampa on Wed. I will pick up John from the airport who arrives on Fri, probably dinner to meet the stepdaughter's in law to be on Sat, wedding on Sun and we will be back home on Monday. I am already getting tired just thinking about all these. LOL...>Christine

I looked you up on RMS -- what a great place to live!

I lived in Colorado for two years back in the early 1980's. I thought those "crystal trees" were about the most magical things I ever saw. Still do.

Your home is lovely -- especially those silk draperies.

Thanks for sponsoring these events. I only started blogging last fall, so I have not seen a lot of these.

Hello Chari

I just saw your comment at the Back Porch. Thank you!

I'm not sure I am the one to give tutorials on photography. I am an amateur, just getting into my stride in a photography hobby. I have lots to learn.

I can tell you, I started out with a point and shoot camera about 8 years ago. I used various point and shoot cameras through the years. Two years ago, I decided to dive into digital photography a tad further and had a big garage sale to finance the purchase of the Canon Rebel xti. It's a good entry level camera for digital photography, outside the point and shoot option. The key, I find, is to take multiple shots (for a variety to choose from) and use no flash. The best way is to stablize the camera with a tripod or a solid surface and use the timer. I also use various editing programs that help so much. I have a little bit of background in art and can stage a setting pretty well, to get the best shot, but it's all just hit and miss. The flower photos over the last week or so, were taken, using the new telephoto canon 70-200 and the little tamron 18-200 which does much the same as the canon, I just think the glass is a tad better in the canon. The list on my sidebar shows all the equipment I use. It's a good idea to play around with the camera and editing when you aren't concentrating on a subject for a post. Practice and have fun. That's all I do. My friend Maureen, whom I've mentioned in a post or two, has taken classes and has helped me in decisions about lenses, etc. I have no idea about aperture or anything like that. I just shoot away and see what happens.
I used the kit lens that came with the canon rebel, for about a year..just getting a feel for it, before buying other lenses. I think my next one will be a wide angle lens, which isn't heavy. The new 70-200 is the heaviest of the lenses I own. J thinks I should stop there, because it is heavy.

If you can download, Picasa 3, Photofilter, and Photoscape and play around with those, they'll be a big help. Photobucket is good for editing also. All these programs are free. I use all of them some of the time. For me, it's all about the enjoyment of the hobby.
I also own two point and shoot cameras. I use them, now and then too. On some of the point and shoot cameras there is an option for macro photography. That's when you can get those upclose and clear shots.
I've shot the past couple of foodie friday posts, with the 50mm lens. It's great for those shots. I think you can get close to the same with point and shoot cameras.

When we get home from the lake, I'll try to get a little post together about editing. That will open up the look of photos, for you. Try looking at a few photo blogs. I have one, Snapshots from the Back Porch. It's just my photos. Not many, though. I learn by studying other photographer's techniques. There are a couple on my sidebar.

Hope this helps and I'll be thinking about a tutorial.

Chari, thanks so much for stopping by and as usual leaving such warm and kind comments. I always look so forward to your visits. It is so funny that I really do like all the neutrals in my home now, but when we first moved in I thought it was so boring. I had always used reds and golds and just couldn't use these colors anymore since the carpet is actually kind of a cocoa color and you have to be careful what you put with it or it looks pink and that just isn't me. lol Not that I don't like pink, I just don't want pink carpet. I am having fun changing things around with the seasons. This is entirely new for me and it is fun. I appreciate your comments and I would love your suggestions if you ever have any. Your home is lovely and I especially like the way you can arrange a vignette. I am always impressed. Anyway, thanks again. Hugs, Marty

You are the nicest sweetest friend! I hope your having a good week so far and that Mother's Day was good too. My hubby got me half a dozen roses and we went out to eat with his family. Today, was sunny and beautiful- I bet Colorado is so lovely right now. I can't wait for your tablescape! I just love those new dishes, Hugs, Cindy

Chari,
Wow you aren't kidding about your bathroom & bedroom being part of the same room. My bathroom is opened up to my bedroom, but I have a little hall between. I put up a room divider so you can't see into the shower from our room (that is the only thing you can see from our bedroom). Yours actually seems a part of the room. I would put up the curtains to separate them too. Good idea. Love the new bedding. I hope you had a good Mother's Day. Since we celebrated with my Mom on Saturday, yesterday was just for me!!! I could do what I want (except for relaxing). Talk to you later.
