Hello my friends...I hope that you're having a fabulous day!
Oooh...the lilacs are now in bloom...here in Colorful Colorado!
I just love all flowers but I must admit...lilacs are at the top of my
"favorites" list.
*
As soon as the flowering shrubs put on their purple hued
blooms, I began to count down the days till I could go and snip
a few stems to bring into the house for a bouquet. I made a nice large
bouquet for the living room...and a bouquet for the dining room table.
*
Mmmm...the sight...and the scent...simply glorious!
*
Today I thought I would share the beautiful lilac bouquet in
my dining room...along with a few changes that I made to the
vignette that decorates the buffet. I hope that you enjoy!

Lilacs...A Spring Bouquet for the Dining Room
*
*
Here we are...in my french country dining room.
*
Even though it can be a challenge...I love "lightening
and brightening" up my dining room for the spring season.
Dark red, olive green, and accents of gold...make up the dining
room's color palette. I really do love the deep, rich colors. This room
would be would be "dark"...if it weren't for all the bright light that the large
windows allow in. And...the white furniture pieces help keep the room
light and bright as well. I love the contrast of the white furniture
against the red dining room walls!
*
*
*
Here they are now...LILACS...in all of their glorious beauty!
*
Several stems of this pretty purpley flower fill a large white ironstone pitcher.
*
I kept the table centerpiece...simple.
*
A stack of white bowls and plates sit on a large ironstone platter...joined by a
single green apple...and of course...the beautiful bouquet of lilacs.
*
I used a vintage linen runner as a foundation for the centerpiece vignette.
*
*
*
Lilacs...in lovely hues of varigated lavender!
*
*
*
A single green apple...ready to eat!
*
I do believe that this beautiful hue of spring yellowy-green is one
of the prettiest colors to pair with lavender. Paired along with the bright
whites...it just feels fresh and...well...spring-like.
*
I found this set of white dishes at JC Penneys last year. Beautiful
embossed flowers and meandering ribbon decorate the dishes...and the
edges of the plates are made of up "ruffled scallops"...LOVELY!!!
*
*
*
The dining room buffet's new look!
*
I made just a few minor changes since Easter...
*
*
*
Here is the buffet's Easter vignette...
*
Bunnies...bunnies...and MORE BUNNIES!
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
I love all sweet bunnies and my collection seems to be multiplying (wink)
...but it was time for them to go.
*
If you would like to see more of the Easter vignette...you can just click HERE.
*
*
*
As you can see...I just replaced the bunnies with a few simple pieces.
*
*
*
On the right hand side of the buffet vignette...
*
a stack of three green apples on a silver pedestal dish...all under a tall cloche!
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
On the left hand side of the buffet vignette...
*
A frenchy looking white pitcher filled with teaspoons...sitting upon
a stack of white plates.
*
*
*
A few months ago I found this beautiful set of flatware on sale
at Horchows. I have been "eyeing" them for quite some time and took
advantage of the sale.
*
I love the white handles with the embossed silver tips! Sooo pretty!
*
*
*
Voila...and there you have it!
*
~LILACS~
*
...a spring bouquet for the dining room.

Chari,
ReplyDeleteYour lilacs are wonderful! I love the simplicity of your centerpiece. Your buffet looks great too! I always enjoy your decorating ideas! I hope you have a wonderful week.
Kathy
Hi darling, what can I say but "gorgeous". I miss our lilac bush. It didn't survive one of the harsh winters we had a few years ago, I've just never replaced it. Still one of many things on the list of things to do. You know I adore your darling bunnies, and that gorgeous arrangement in your silver bucket stole my heart... always a delight to visit your beautiful dining room. hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell them right through the screen. Beautiful. You make white look inviting and fun.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty my friend! Love lilacs and their smell is heavenly! Enjoy your week:)
ReplyDeleteChari those lilacs are soooo beautiful! I think I can smell their sweet sent through your positively gorgeous pics! I love all your spring touches, those sweet bunnies. What a wonderful room. Happy Spring to you and your hubby!
ReplyDeleteChari,
ReplyDeleteI could almost smell the heady aroma of your lilacs, dear friend! I adore how that 'pop of purple' made the other purple elements in your dining room have greater impact. I noticed the grapes in the print and on the wall! Your bufett is always stunning! And while I miss the bunnies, that flatware is exquisite!
Fondly,
Pat
Oh, Chari! This is so pretty. I love lilacs and their scent...heavenly! How nice to have a few bushes that you can really cut from! This is such a nice big bouquet and you have one in your living room, too!
ReplyDeleteYour dishes from Penney's are so pretty. And I love the new flatware from Horchow...I will have to check that out.
Your cabinet looks wonderful, too. I need to get rid of all my bunnies!! I'm a little late in the game! I'm just not sure what I want to decorate my mantel with yet. Sigh!
Hope you are having sunny skies in Colorado. It's raining cats and dogs here!! Have a great week, my friend!
XO,
Jane
I am SOOO unhappy about MY lilacs this spring.
ReplyDeleteFisherhubby has been "trimming" the bushes from OUR side of the fence - - - and the neighbor has been trimming them from HER side of the fence.
Between the TWO of them, and the many hard frosts AFTER we had 2 weeks of 80 degree days, we got barely ANY blooms at all.
Sigh
Maybe next spring - - -
Hi Miss Chari!
ReplyDeleteYour lilacs are gorgeous! Mine didn't bloom this year..go figure?? We have had such a great spring so I was disappointed when mine had no blooms. Gardening is like that though! Your spring vignette on the buffet is so pretty! I love the silver and white together. Hope you are enjoying a wonderful spring. Yes you asked about Mr. T...box turtles do hibernate...I miss him over the winter but so glad to see him when he comes out of hiding! Thanks for your sweet comments!
Miss Bloomers
Love the lilacs--your dining room looks so lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour Lilacs look beautiful. They smell so nice and brings so much sunshine to our lives. Love your buffet.
ReplyDeleteLove your lilacs!!! I agree - they are one of my favorites too. I think that is what heaven is going to smell like. Yours are just beautiful! Do you know the secret to keep them from drooping. I rarely pick mine because they so often droop right away and other times they last, but you never know which it's going to be.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Lovely lilacs! Can never get enough of all these lovely blog posts about lilacs here in bloglandia ;)

I just love the way you use crisp white in that room. It's so beautiful. The lilacs? Oh goodness... beautiful doesn't even describe it well enough. We can't grow them here, and I just plain LOVE them.
ReplyDeleteHi Chari,
ReplyDeleteThis is soooo very pretty my dear!
And I am so jealous as most of my lilacs didn't make it. That early warm weather and then the cold and frost. I can hardly stand it!
I think I will be able to get a few but none probably from my dark purple ones.
Well my dear, I love seeing these pics! I imagine sitting there with you and visiting again! Wouldn't that be fun..move closer ok? hehe.
Today is Katie's B-Day so spent the day with her and little Addi!
