Autumn Dining...French Country Style!

*

*
Hello my friends...I hope you're having a fabulous day!
*
Welcome...to my little french country dining room! This week I have been playing dishes and I have set an "autumn table...french country style"! I hope you enjoy!
*
Autumn Dining...French Country Style

*
Frenchy Wire Cloches
*
Recently I created an autumn vignette for my dining room buffet using these frenchy looking wire cloches. If you would like to see my autumn buffet..just click HERE.
*
I decided to move the cloches to the table for a little autumn dining...french country style!
*
The tall wire cloche stands a stately 30 ins. in height. I found it at a local gift shop. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it! The cloche is made of chicken wire and sits upon a distressed, gray colored, metal urn. Autumn berries and a couple of autumn floral picks decorate the cloche. The smaller wire cloche was a Hobby Lobby find. I love the sweet little bird finial on top of the cloche. This cloche sits atop a silver pedestal dish and is decorated with a yellow-gold candle and more autumn berries.
*

*
My newest little treasure find...frenchy looking woven placemats.
*
I love, love, LOVE these heavy woven placemats. They have different shades of gray thread and I knew they would coordinate beautifully with the distressed gray finish of the wire cloches.
*

*
I love the deep shades of red paired with the gray!
*

*
The Table Centerpiece...
*
Of course the starring attraction for this autumn table are the two frenchy wire cloches. I really do like how the gray cloches look against the red walls!
*

*
The smaller cloche is sitting on a stack of red dessert plates.
*

*
I used a tapestry table runner for a foundation for the table centerpiece. I turned it upside down because the colors were more muted...just what I was looking for! It's a little difficult to see...but I am using an autumn floral arrangement as a backdrop for the cloches in the centerpiece. It's made up of autumn colored roses, berries, grapevine, and greenery. It sits in an old french table tray that also has a distressed gray finish. Layers...layers...layers! Many layers to this autumn table centerpiece!
*
An Autumn Pitcher
*
I usually have this pretty pitcher in my kitchen. I decided to add it to the table...I love the autumnal colors of the grapes and grape leaves...Oooh...and that pretty distressed gray handle!
*

*
Ohhh...you know how I love my sweet little birds! These pretty autumn songbirds are perfect for this french country table! If you look closely, you will see that their little wings are made up of embossed acorns and oak leaves! Even the birds look french with their pretty frenchy scroll designs!
*

*

*
An old, tarnished, silver footed tray holds a pair of acorn salt & pepper shakers. More of that distressed gray color!
*

*

*
The Place Setting...
*
I have had this set of dark red colored dishes for several years...they were a gift from my youngest daughter. I use them often...they go so well in my red dining room! I am using the dinner plate and the salad plate in this place setting.
*
I am also using my new autumn chargers from Walmart. They have a lovely shade of gray mixed in with the brown...sooo perfect!
*

*
An autumn leaf plate tops off the place setting. I have several shades of these leaf plates but I chose to use the varigated red, orange, and yellow plate because it brings out the same colors of the candle and the autumn florals that decorate the cloches.
*

*

*
A dark red dinner napkin with gold and olive green florals coordinates nicely with the place setting. I found the wood napkin rings at Walmart last year...they seem to match the charger plates.
*

*
Voila! There you have it...autumn dining...french country style!

I hope that you enjoyed!!!

  4. Chari, what a very pretty Country French setting. I love those wire cloches. The tall one is great and I have seen them somewhere. I think I need one. I also like the one with the bird on it. You know I love all that red. Those are very nice placemats. Wonderful job!

  5. This is simply beautiful, Chari. I love how you have paired the deep red and the blue. And I am SO loving your wire cloches!! I think they are so much more fun to play with than glass {though I do love the glass ones}. Your little S&P acorns are darling!!

  7. I love your choice of colors ... they work so well together! The wired cloches are so fun and unusual, and I really like how you turned your tapestry runner over for more muted colors. Your layered plates are beautiful (and, of course, I'm a big fan of the leaf chargers as I have them myself)! Thanks for sharing such an inspiring and lovely tablescape! *Becca*

  10. Love your table setting, Chari! I love those cloches! I think I would have been ready to fight for that tall metal cloche! : ) I have to put some kind of table setting together this week. I won a Fall gift basket at a raffle that had some wonderful little leaf dishes that I will have to figure out a way to use {sauces maybe?} as well as a small serving bowl {maybe good for a side of veggies}. They are begging to be used somehow!

  16. What a lovely setting for dining French Country style! Love all the red in your home & all your elements from the birds to wire cloches :-)

  17. YOU are one of my favorite table scapers. Everything seems so thoughtfully planned, with a reason, on your table. That pitcher pulled from the kitchen is a delightful addition, and the wire cloche is so nice--I guess a candle can burn inside there with no problem. BTW that is such a nice photo of you on the side bar my friend!

  18. Sooooo beautiful!!! Love those wire cloches, I want a tall one now!!! Well I have to say your daughter has an eye for decor like her Mother, those dishes are breathtaking. I want some of them tooo. Better start looking for a job. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.

  20. Chari, your attention to detail is just amazing... love all the fallness as Shelia would say of this tablescape. And those wire cloches... if those disappear, a little magpie has confiscated them! Oh, I love that one with the birdy top! CUTENESS. And those little acorn salt and peppers and the birdies... girl, you have it going! It all looks perfect against your red backdrop.

Now believe it or not, I did pink. Yes, I did! Rebelled and did pink tongiht. ;-) Actually, I'm sharing my MIL's birthday soiree that we did a year ago. I wanted to post it on her actual birthday, but that was back when Mr. Magpie was sick and having surgery and all. So it got delayed. I got to play with some of her pretties, but I hauled my own vases for the flowers. LOL! A tablescaper to the last degree! ;-)

    Happy Tablescape Thursday...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

I can't believe your charger came from WalMart! It looks like a designer plate in this setting.

I am such a huge fan of wire cloches, and your beauties are so artfully filled! That tall one has especially caught my eye! And those acorn S&P's in that tarnished silver are a stroke of brilliance! Darling and elegant all in one. Just like those sweet birds. I'm going to borrow your S&P idea! And your cloche idea! And your color idea... Well, I just might borrow all of your ideas on this pretty french table.

You have such a talent for design... no wonder you called your blog Happy To Design!!!!

  37. Ooolala!!! I love it all! I have never participated in Tablescape Thursday and I realized the other day why. I set my table while my mother was visiting and she told me my table was boring - too monochromatic (browns, whites, and beiges). She was right, but I guess I'm color shy. I'm going to have to work on that, but in the meantime, I can drool over your wonderful table creations!

    :)
