A Little R&R in the Colorado Rockies!

*

*
Hello my friends...I hope that you're having a fabulous day!
*
Whew...it has been a busy, busy summer! Last week we took a little camping trip up to the mountains...I was sooo ready for a little R&R! Hehe!
*
There is nothing like camping in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado! It's a great way to beat the heat...and talk about a fabulous change of scenery!!! I really do love the mountains!!!
*
The Gateway to Poudre Canyon, Colorado

*
The Poudre Canyon is up above Ft. Collins, Colorado on Hwy. 14. When you pass through this little tunnel, you know that you are on your way up to the mountains!
*
The Cache La Poudre River

*
One of my favorite things about the mountains is the fresh mountain streams! The water is so clear and cool! As you can see...we had beautiful weather...just look at that gorgeous blue sky!
*
Home Moraine Campground

*
We decided to camp at the Home Moraine Campground. We found this camp last summer. If you would like to read about our trip last year...you can click HERE. Anyway, it was soooo perfect that we decided to stay there again this year!
*
Can you blame us? Why...just look at the fabulous view we had from our campsite!
*
The rocky mountains, tall pine trees, willowy aspens, and the Poudre river was in our front yard! In fact, the river was only 6 ft. from our picnic table! Ohhhh...what views!!!
*

*
The view from our campsite...looking up river.
*

*
I just love all the big trees!
*
Even though the views were spectacular...that wasn't even the best part of this camping trip!
*
The best part was getting to campout with my daughter Jenni, son-in-law David, and my five grandchildren!!! They came all the way from Texas to visit!
*

*
Yeeeehawww...this was my very first time to camp with my grandchildren! Let me tell ya...this Grandma was in her "7th heaven"!!! I had the time of my life!
*
From left to right: Caylee (age 6), Seth (age 8), Daddy David, Erick (age 9)
Back row: Mama Jenni, Ryan (age 12), and Ethan (age 11)
*

*
From left to right: Erick, Ethan, Seth, and Ryan
*
Ohhh boy...did we have fun!
*
There was playing in the river....
*

*
Caylee didn't get to play in the river...she just had tubes put in her ears. She got as close to the water as she could get though! Hehe! She is such a pretty little girl...isn't she? Of course, Grandma may be a bit partial! Hehe!
*

*
Besides playing in the river...we looked for the perfect "walking sticks"! Ryan found his right away and spent quite some time stripping all the bark off of it!
*

*
Now I have to tell you...we are all "Bigfoot" fans! Grandpa Russell taught Ethan how to "call in" a Bigfoot. You take two pieces of wood and hit them together...over and over! Well...you get the picture! Hehe!
*

*
Ethan thinks it is working! Hmmm...I'm not so sure that I want a Bigfoot visiting our camp...eeekks!
*

*
Of course there was lots of fishing! Grandpa Russell caught the very first fish...a nice sized Rainbow Trout! Grandpa is trying to teach Ryan how to hold a fish after taking it off of the hook!
*
I laughed and laughed! Grandpa told Ryan to just put his thumb in the fishes mouth and hold him...Ryan wanted no part of that! Hehe!
*

*
David with his first catch! Another beautiful Rainbow Trout!
*

*
While the boys were all off fishing, Caylee and I played with Play Doh! We had the best time ever!!!
*

*
We only camped for three days but it was the best three days ever!!!
*
Many precious memories were made on this camping trip in the mountains...and that's what it's all about!!!
*
*
I'm joining this fabulous party this week...
*
Outdoor Wednesday...hosted by Susan over at A Southern Daydreamer.
*

Thank you, Susan...for hosting Outdoor Wednesday! Please go by and see what Susan has for us today and while you are there...you can check out all of the other participants.
*
Well my friends...thank you so much for letting me share "Our Family Campout" in the mountains with you today...yet another page out of this Grandma's "Brag Book"! Hehe!
*
Please leave me a note and let me know that you were here...I'd love to visit back with you!
*
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  1. Good Morning Chari!
Oh, I am so excited to be the first to post! What great pictures! I want to hop in my little Ford Escort and drive right back there. Just Gorgeous! And I so loved seeing the pics of your daughter, hubby and grandkids! I do believe that Jenny looks a lot like her Momma! And she looks so young to have all those kiddies! And those kiddies are just all so cute!! I love the pics of Caylee, she is such a cutie! This looks so fun Chari, and I am so happy that you and Russ got to do this. What wonderful memories you have created for your grandkids! And in the beautiful Colorado Rockies, what could be better!
I am just trying to get back my energy from the baby shower. Dan will be starting back to school next week and things will change a lot then. I will be missing him but we do get back into a routine and that's ok too.
    Big Hugs,
    Cindy

  2. What a wonderful family vacation. I'm sure that your daughter and her family were thrilled to escape this heat wave! The water is just gorgeous, and such beautiful scenery to wake to every morning. The kids look like they had a blast. Such great memories. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. But I'll admit, I'm with Ryan about sticking my thumb in that fish mouth - blech!

  11. I've NEVER been camping and am going to the western slope over Labor Day weekend. I hope I have as much fun as you did. My dad loved to fish up the Poudre and my mom got so tired of fish every week! But I LOVED them!

Thanks for sharing the mountains as they always refresh my soul. ♥♫

  12. Chari, what a wonderful trip and what a precious family you have! I enjoyed seeing what you all did so much. I always loved fishing as a child, and I have always wanted to see the American West. Just gorgeous scenery.

I am still on blog break and will be till some time in September, but I wanted to stop by and visit this morning and see what you'd been up to. So glad I did. There is nothing happier than a family vacation, and I'm sure lots of wonderful memories were made. From the looks on the faces, I know they were! :-)

    XO,

    Sheila

  15. What a wonderful trip. I love camping (as long as there is a shower close by). You are lucky to have such a gorgeous place to camp. And having your daughter's family was the icing on the cake. You were indeed one lucky gramma. Thanks for sharing. Sorry that I haven't stopped by your blog in a while. But don't feel bad, I haven't stopped by anyone's blog. I haven't even posted much on my own. I've been too busy being on vacation & working since I got back. Hopefully I am starting to venture out into the big ole blog world now. So I'll keep checking back.
