It's a Rooster Party and a Few of My Favorite Things!

*

*
Hello my friends...I hope that you're having a fabulous day!
*
As many of you know...today is the day! The day for the Rooster Party...hosted by Barb over at Bella Vista. I am also joining in with Show & Tell Friday and A Few of my Favorite Things Saturday! You will find all the credits to these lovely parties at the end of my post!
*
My Frenchy Studio/Office

*
This is my frenchy studio/office...where I create and where sooo many of my most favorite treasures reside!
*
It's not a large room by any means...however, it works for me! Before I go any further, I must tell you that because my studio/office only has one window...it's very difficult to photograph! I do apologize for some of the "dark" photos.
*
I wanted sooo badly to participate in the Rooster Party today...
*
I searched high and low for a rooster...lo and behold...I found one!
Yes...just one!!!
**

*
My french country toile draperies have roosters on them! Yeeehawww!
*
I do hope that these fine feathered friends are enough to allow me into the party???
*
Pleeease...pretty please! Hehe!
*
I found these beautiful draperies on sale at JC Penneys for just $77...they were originally marked $270! They are made by Waverly and called, "La Ferme".
*
Anyway, while we are here...I'd love to show you around my frenchy studio/office. Some of you have seen this room before...but...there have been a few changes! I hope you enjoy!!!
*
A Few of my Favorite Things...

*
A gold, damask, slip covered chair can be found in one corner of the studio.
*
The beautiful lace tablecloth draped over the back of the chair was a gift from my dear friend Gloria over at Happy To Be blog. Ohhh...how I adore it!!! I hope to do a tablescape using it...soon!
*

*
Just to the left of the chair...you will see an ornate metal wall hanging. The candle that you see there...is wrapped in a piece of scrapbook paper that has french writing and embellished with twine, ribbon, and gold angel trim...which was a gift from my dear friend Mary over at Mary's Meanderings blog.
*
My Antique Desk...

*
This beautiful antique desk belonged to my in-laws. It really has seen it's better days...naturally distressed with the passage of time. The desktop has rings from where my in-laws sat their coffee cups...and many scratches...possibly made from my honey when he was just a boy! I treasure this old desk...if only it could talk!
*
My honey made the shelf above the desk. It was here before I came to live in this house. I would like to paint it black someday. As you can see...nearly every square inch of the shelf is filled with many, many of my treasures!
*

*
The beautiful bottle with the embellished crown topper was a recent gift from my sweet friend Cindy over at Applestone Cottage blog. Ohhh...how I love my pretty bottle! I think I need to fill it with pearls!
*
Just to the left of the pretty decorative bottle...you can see an ornate metal cross. It has black and white polka dotted ribbon wrapped around it. The cross is another treasured gift from a dear friend...Laurie from Bargain Hunting and Chatting with Laurie blog!
*
The two small porcelain dolls that you see on this shelf belonged to my dear Grandmother! She kept them on her dresser. My mother gave them to me last year...such a precious gift!!! The smaller bottle with the cut crystal topper was given to me by my Grandfather! He had it out in his garage when I stumbled upon it one day...I was just 16 yrs. old. I asked if I could have it and well...as you can see...my Grandpa spoiled me that way! Hehe!
*

*
The large black leather box with the Eiffel Tower embroidered in brown was found at Hobby Lobby several years ago. I just added a big bunch of autumn colored euculyptus and pheasant feathers to the box for a bit of interest!
*

*
On the right side of the shelf I have a myriad of favorite things...a tall statue of a pretty french girl...an old family (baby) photo...an old glass milk bottle full of gold buttons, and angelic letters that spell out the word "LOVE"! Ahhh...these are a few of my favorite things!!!
*
The two large framed prints were purchased from a street vendor while we were in Paris! Very famous street scenes in grand ol' Paris!!!
*

*
Oops...I just realized that I didn't get a full photo of my frenchy candelabra lamp. If you would like to see it in it's full splendor...you can click HERE. My sweet friend Laura made this beautiful lamp just for moi! I love everything about it...the cherub, the crystals, the bronzy colored candelabra arms...well, I think you get the point! Hehe! I met Laura at Rate My Space...she is such a talented lady!!! The two decorative perfume bottles...the gold and the burgandy...were also gifts from Laura! They are sooo beautiful!!!
*
The small framed "Amazing Grace...How Sweet the Sound" picture belonged to my sweet Grandma! I adored my grandparents!!!
*

**
Also on the left side of my desk...you will find an old silver tray filled with old Victorian miniature books, business cards, and a few old skeleton keys that I have tied together with a pretty ribbon. **

**
On the left side of my desk...a masonary cherub sits atop a few of my favorite magazines and books. He is holding the key to my "secret" treasures! Hehe!
*
You can see my antique iron garden gate that I have put up on the wall behind my desk! It's a great place to stick cards and to hang a few more of my treasures...like the very rare gold transferware plate!
*

Just a pretty picture...showcased in an old floral frog!
*

*
Hehe...this is my "idea" treasure chest! It's filled with fabric, frames, old photos, an old brown transferware plate, and other goodies that I intend to use in my studio someday!
*
See that pretty golden crown that is sitting on the antique photo album? My sweet friend Melissa from Melissa's Heart and Home blog gave this crown to me! The crown is filled with more old family photos and I added a fleur de lis tassel to the top of the crown! I love it!!!
*

*
Well my friends...thank you sooo much for letting me share my "lone rooster" and frenchy studio/office with you today!!! My studio truly is filled with all of my favorite things...everytime I see these treasures...I think of the dear ones who gifted me with them!!!
*

  2. Hi Chari,
My dear I saw this room in person and I stil can't get over how beautifully you have decorated it! Every single item is displayed so perfectly! The little bottle looks cute and fit's in so nicely. And all the other pretties from blogger friends, so
meaningful mixed with all the family treasures! And my favorite's are those fabulous photos that belonged to Russ's family. They just are amazing!!
I love the drapes too, they really add that frenchy touch!
I've been busy getting ready for Katie's baby shower on the 14th. So much to do, so little time. I still have to get my menu in order.
Thank goodness Dan is helping me with some of the big cleaning.
Miss you guys! Say hi to Russ.
    Hugs,
    Cindy

  4. Hey honey, I just got your comment. Chari, I saw your comment about wanting to be a part of the Rooster party but now I can't find it. Can you believe that. I thought I might be crazy for a minute but linked you anyway. Am I nuts or what? Haha.

Your post is stunning as always. There is a strength to your design but also a quiet stillness. Your rooms are very soothing and I adore the window treatment. Just stunning.

I am so glad you joined us. Have a happy time.

    Hugs, Barb ♥

  5. Hey Chari~Tres Magnifique!
What a lovely spot to house your creative treasures. Now, can you come to my house and let your designing juices flow into my studio, that looks like a storage center, lol.

How's your summer going? Ours is so fleeting this will be the last month for real sunshine so we're relishing every minute.

    Sweet wishes,
    Sara

I have alot of that in my garden as I am always getting a cutting or digging up a plant or 2 from friends yards!! (yes, I ask though I have been tempted to sneak over in the middle of the night and dig up some things they won't share!!)

I do love this room!! You have not missed the tiniest detail Chari!!

  11. Your rooster is very special, like an only child, Chari. It reminded me, I have 2 Frenchy throw pillows in my toile kids room but I forgot to bring them to the party. There are so many pretty things to see in your French room. It must be so much fun to be in there....Christine

  13. Oh Chari, I loved seeing these closeups of your office. So many beautiful treasures. I think your beautiful rooster draperies are a perfect contribution to the Rooster Party. What wonderful treasures you've received from blogging friends. That tablecloth from Gloria is just exquisite. Your garden gate has gained some treasures too. What a wonderful idea to use it for displaying special things. Your lamp from Laura is so pretty (haven't heard from her in so long - hope she's doing well). How nice of you to put the cross on your shelf in your office. I'm so glad you're enjoing it. What a gorgeous bottle from Cindy, and what a great story about the bottle from your grandfather. I love the desk belonged to your husband's family. The "LOVE" angels are so unique, and what a sweet little Amazing Grace picture that belonged to your grandmother. You have such a special way of putting together vignettes with wonderful treasures. I'm so glad you are linking this beautiful post to Favorite Things Sat.
Okay, I know I've already written a book, but I have to tell you that if bloggers voted on an award for "best commenter", you would win in a landslide. I love to see that you have left me a comment, and I always can't wait to read it. I'm so impressed that you recognized the Quimper pitcher in my rooster post! Hope you have a wonderful weekend. laurie
