A Summer's Dream... Down by the Seashore!

*
*

*
Hello my friends...I hope you're having a fabulous Thursday!
*
Wow...we have been having some really hot weather here in Colorful Colorado and I'm longing for a little refrain from the heat! Hmmm...maybe a trip to the seashore! Ahhh...the feel of a cool ocean breeze on my face...a little taste of salt on my lips...and the serenade of waves as they come rushing to shore! Ohhh yes...take me away!!!
*
Well...I'm a long way from the seashore but that doesn't mean that I can't dream about having a little "Summer's Dream...Down at the Seashore"! Sooo...my master bedroom has undergone a little summer transformation!!!
*
"A Summer's Dream...
Down by the Seashore"

*
The "BEFORE"

*
My master bedroom in its "winter" frocks.
*
The winters are pretty cold here in Colorado. A color scheme of rich, deep browns and blues warm the room...along with the heavy bed linens!
*
The "AFTER"

*
Ahhh...a softer, lighter feel...just perfect for the warmer summer months!
*
New Bed Linens

*
"Painterly Paisley" by Pottery Barn
*
It was love at first sight! I found this pretty paisley patterned duvet on sale at Pottery Barn and just knew it would be perfect to dress my summer bed! I love the soft, demure colors of yellow/gold, sandy taupe, and gray...all on a background of white and the paisley pattern looks a bit like seashells! Hmmm...I hear a decor theme in the works! Hehe! The duvet is folded at the end of the bed...I also purchased matching euro shams.
*
Matelasse Coverlet & Bed Skirt
*
I found this gorgeous matelasse coverlet...called "Coventry"...at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. It was a real bargain at just $29.99...marked down because it had been used for a display! Yay!!! It also had matching pillow shams. I added a matelasse bed skirt (JC Penneys) as well.
*
I am really loving all of this WHITE!!!
*

*
Ahhh...to lay my head down upon all of these pretty fluffy pillows...and dream of summer days down by the seashore!
*
I just found this bolster pillow at JC Penneys...on sale of course! It picks up the sandy taupe color in the duvet and euro shams.
*
New Accessories

*
A Vignette...Down by the Seashore
*
A large lidded canning jar filled with white candles, a smaller jar filled with seashells, an old bottle, and a couple of old books...sit atop the cabinet on the left side of the bed. Just keeping it light and simple!
*

*

*
I tied an old rusty key with a white ribbon around the neck of the bottle...love this look!
*

*
An old pottery pitcher, a couple of chippy, cast iron candleholders, and a ceramic shell filled with a piece of old lace and starfish...accessorize the cabinet on the ride side of the bed.
*

*
A Treasure...
*
This piece of lace was crocheted by my great-grandmother. I thought it looked pretty with the starfish and ceramic shell!
*

*
More To Come...

*
I have also redecorated the master bath...another post...another time. So stay tuned! Hehe!
*
I will leave you with a couple of photos that I took in the bath...four small glass candleholders with votive candles and shells...sitting on a ledge...and all lined up! They made for a pretty photo!
*

*
Well my friends...I hope you enjoyed the tour of our master bedroom transformation! It was such a pleasure having you stop by for a visit!!!

  1. Oh la, I love the whites mucho better!! Really pretty and I love all the decorations too. I can't believe you got that for 29 bucks!! Even on Ebay I had to pay 60 for one of my white spreads. I have gone with white on the beds for the summer too--I love the feel of it. I have even covered some of my couches in white.

  9. I love the new changes! Love your linens and how you used your shells and jars! I have items my grandmother crocheted and will be displaying them in the master bedroom once it is completed. I already have some in my home office.

  10. Oh Chari!!! I just love, love, love your summerized bedroom. It's gorgeous!!!! Love the bedding, love the little vignettes with the shells. Love everything. Can't wait to see the bathroom.

How hot has it been in colorful Colorado? We've had an unusually mild summer so far. I've loved it! But I'm sure it will start to warm up here pretty quick now that June is done.

What are your plans for the 4th? We are having some family over for a BBQ & swim party.

Take care & I'll talk to you later.

  11. Your new decor in the MB is really soothing and light feeling. It's so pretty! I love the color combinations, one of my favorite. I have admired that PB bedding for a while and it looks so wonderful in your room.
You vignettes with the jars and shell with lace is perfection!
Love it all, I look forward to seeing your redo in the bath, I am confident it will be just as well put together and SO pretty, too.

    Hugs, Cindy S

  12. It's a beautiful transformation! Makes me want to take a nap...lol. Pick a "cool" beach in California because it's in the 90's here in FL. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

  18. Amazing! It doesn't even look like the same room! I like to decorate for the mountains here in NC...dark reds and greens but I'm tempted to change some of my decor! Love the little special touches...seashells, candles, books! You have such style! ♥

  19. I love this transformation. What you had before was gorgeous, but with the summer heat, I love this soft, whisper soft white change into something so light and airy. And all the gorgeous vignettes with shells/books/candles/sand/sea things just make it pop even more and you can also smell and feel that ocean breeze dancing through your hair as you look at this room. You style like a wonderful magazine stylist!!!
    Hugs, Lana

  20. Oh la la, I love both looks. Brown is one of my favorite winter colors. Your whites are just so airy and bright. What a bargain on that matlasse coverlet at $29. Pottery Barn don't you just love that store and a sale on top. What great choices on your accessories.

Oh by the way, we just came back from South Caroline at the beach, it was not cool??? In the 90"s with a heat index of 111 last Friday. I do believe it went back down in the high 80"s this week. But hey the sand, waves and ocean breeze at least take your mind off of the heat :)

  36. I was thinking your walls sort of look Colorado-ish to me. I tried to get that affect with a sort of ragging one time and it came out pretty well. I also love that color.

The "patience" part of the tea is leaving it on your counter all day. Probably the color is what I love about it the most. Since my sun tea days were using regular tea, and this is herbal fruity tea, I really can't compare the taste of the two methods, as you asked.

Glad you are also an Amy Carmichael fan. There are many of us!
