A Fireplace Mantel & A Springtime Vignette

*

*
Hello my friends...I hope that you're having a fabulous day!
*
Wow...I am sooo glad that Spring has finally made it to Colorful Colorado! Well, except for the fact that we are supposed to have snow on Wednesday...sheeeshhh! I'm sure it won't last long though! I'm just praying that it won't hurt our trees that have already begun to bud out!
*
Well my friends, I have been a bit "out of the loop" since I've been sick the last couple of weeks...I haven't gotten much done, as you can tell by my lack of posting! I did change out the winter decor of my fireplace mantel and took a few photos before getting sick...thought I would finally share those with you today for Marty's Tabletop Tuesday!
*
I have several photos...so I'll try and not be too "wordy"! Hehe! I hope you enjoy!!!
*
The "BEFORE"
A Fireplace Mantel & A Winter Vignette

*
I am really loving my faux fireplace! My honey and I completed this project (building the faux fireplace) right before Christmas. I am really enjoying having a mantel to decorate!!!
*

*
Since the ornate carvings on the cherry wood mantel are highlighted with gold...I find that using gold accessories in the mantel vignette...work well!
*
This was my fireplace mantel's winter dress...but Spring has sprung and my mantel has donned a new look for season!
*
The "AFTER"
A Fireplace Mantel & A Springtime Vignette

*
Taaadaaa!!!
*
I wanted something light and fresh...so I went house shopping! Hehe!
*
I started bringing out a few white accessories that I had put away at the end of last summer and this is what I ended up with! Of course, this is after I changed the mantel a hundred times! Hehe! I love to play!!!
*

*
White, sagey greens, and a few "pops" of spring color!
*

*
I left my large framed giclee print above the mantel. This is one of my favorite pieces of art. It is a piece done by a very talented artist named Fran Di Giacomo. I love a pretty floral still life that includes fruit. The magnolias are simply gorgeous in this piece!!! Ohhh...and the colors are so beautiful...so vibrant!!!
*

*
Front and Center...
*
I placed a sculpture of a "bird sitting on a branch" inside of a masonary pot. In fact, if you look back at the very first photos of my "winter" mantel...you can see the "bird sitting on a branch" sculpture on the left side of the mantel vignette. Then I wound a bit of greenery up the branch and voila! Stacked a couple of old books to give the pot and bird sculpture a bit of height!
*

*
Last year I purchased these light sagey-green colored, ceramic pears from JC Penneys. They were on sale...$12 for the trio. They are a nice size...measuring about 7 in. in height. This is the first time that I have used them in a vignette. I placed a pear to each side of the masonary pot and stack of old books.
*

*
The Left Side of the Vignette...
*
I love, love, LOVE my new spring plates! They were a gift from Diann over at The Thrifty Groove. I think they add just the right amount of spring color and ambiance to my mantel's new spring decor! Behind the plate is a tall white masonary candleholder with a white pillar candle. I also added another pear into the mix...sitting atop a wooden block with a pretty picture of a bird. Ohhh yes, I can't forget the little bird figurine...another sale find from Hobby Lobby for just $1!
*

*

*

*
The Right Side of the Vignette...
*
Another pretty spring plate, white masonary candleholder, and a bird figurine!
*

*

*

*

*
Just an "artsy" photo! I wanted you to see the pretty french detailing on the front of the masonary pot. I found this pretty pot at Hobby Lobby on sale for just $2.60! I love it!!!
*

*
I even gave the fireplace hearth a new spring look!
*
I removed the hearth candelabra with all the pillar candles and added a decorative hat box, a planter full of vining ivy, an old book, and a white cast iron bird. A large artichoke finial was also added to the hearth for a little more of that fresh, white color!!! Just as a little note...I love how I was able to catch the sun's rays in this photo! Do you see them streaming in on the left side of the photo? You can see the rainbow of colors in the sun rays...oooh, sooo pretty!
*

*

*
And there you have it...my fireplace mantel with a fresh new look for spring!!!
*
*

  13. Chari, You're fireplace is so elegant! You and your honey did a great job. I really like both the before and the after, Chari. You are so creative and most anything you dream up is a winning combination. I can see that you really like birds, and you decorate beautifully with them - I am so glad you won the bird salad plates from Diann. You've put them to good use!
Blessings, and feel better soon! Beth

  14. Hi Chari-- I sure hope you are finally feeling better. What did you and Gloria do in Las Vegas? Both of you have been so sick ever since! Oh yes, we are to have snow this week also. But I don't mind, as I always dread summer and the heat. I'm already thinking about winter - I've started making some winter-type pillows for the living room out of wool plaids. Take care of yourself and have a great week. Sally

  15. Oh Chari, you always amaze me with how creative you are. I love the change in your mantel for spring. The white is just so pretty. The hearth is stunning too. I always take such great inspiration away from your vignettes. I love the mix of books, plants the white figurines, birds and just the whole look. Love it. Thanks so much for joining the party. Hugs, Marty

  16. You've done it again girl!!! It's fabulous!!! I hope that you are starting to feel better. Sorry to hear you might have snow again. Yikes!!! It's been coolish here in SoCal for the past 2 days. Last year at this time we had already hit temps in the low 100's. I like the cooler weather better than the heat. Getting old is a pain, I hate the heat. Well take care my friend. I have enjoyed your spring vignette.

  24. Just stunning Chari!
Girl, this is so light, and airy and springy it fits perfectly with the dark wood! I adore the pears and of course the birds and your frenchy bird plate! That pot was a steal from HL, boy I think I need to find my way there. I am so glad your starting to feel better! This sickness stuff seems to be spreading around bloggyland. Hey dear, we had snow showers on Friday night. I was sooo irritated I could hardly believe my eyes. Well, I should be cleaning my kitchen, but of course I'm blogging instead.
    Hugs,
    Cindy

  25. Hi Chari, I hope you are feeling better! I love visiting you and I am always in awe of your decorating. I love your fireplace; you and your husband did a great job designing it. I'd never guess it was "faux". I love your spring mantle with all the birds sprinkled about...I'm really into birds this year and it seems so many others are as well? I’m so happy that you loved my “Sunday Favorites” birdie and nest jar project. Thank you for letting me know you have saved my tutorial and plan to try this project as well! I hope you share pictures and let me know if you do create one of the little birdie jars. Thanks again for your visit and your “TWEET” comments.

  44. Hey Chari,
I felt like I hit the jackpot girl!!! All your sweet notes, you made my day! It sounds like your having some of the same kind of weather we are. Yesterday was only 48 degrees for a high! I want my spring back. Today, same thing. The weekend is supposed to be nice with highs in the 70's which is where we are supposed to be. No big plans but on Friday, Katie, my sister and I are heading to a big garage sale near the twin cities. It's like the mother of all garage sales around this area and I am hoping for some good deals. I hope you were able to get some sleep. I do that often, read blogs or internet shop when I can't sleep. Take care my friend and I hope your feeling better each day.
    Talk to you soon,
    Big Hugs,
    Cindy
