My Newest Thrifty Treasure Finds
*
Yeeeehawwww!!! I Found a New Thrift Store!!!
*
Last weekend during a trip to the big city...I found a brand spankin' new thrift store! Ohhh girls, I was doin' my happy dance!!! Hehe!
*
This thrift store is a thrifter's dream...let me tell ya! It was packed so full of thrifty treasures that you had to dig and dig...just to see them all! Now that's my kind of place! I know that it's not everyone's "thing"...to have to dig to see what all is there but I just love it!!! The great thing about these kind of places is that alot of folk aren't willing to get in there and DIG...so many times there are hidden treasures...just waiting to be found! To be found by ME!!!
*
Here are a few of the treasures that I found...
*
*
A Set of 4...Olive Green Placemats
*
I love these placemats!!! These pretty olive green placemats will be perfect for my dining room! I love that they are reversible...pretty olive green & white checks on one side...and olive green stripes on the other! They are brand new...found them still in the package!
*
Cost: $1.00
*
*
Burlap Placemats & a Brown Transferware Plate
*
I found six, brand new, burlap placemats! I must confess that burlap really isn't my style, however I have been seeing some really pretty things made out of burlap lately! I'm not sure what I will do with these...maybe just use them for an Autumn table...maybe I'll stencil on them and make pillows???
*
I also found the most beautiful brown transferware plate! It's ironstone manufactured in England! I grabbed it faster then you could say "it's mine!" Hehe! Brown transferware is getting harder and harder to find and I love it!!!
*
*
Oooh...just look at that beautiful brown pattern!!!
*
Cost: 6 Burlap placemats...$1.00
Brown transferware plate...$2.99
*
*
Teapot, Pedestal Plate and Matching Bowl
*
After my exhilerating treasure hunt at the new thrift store, I went to TJ Maxx. I found this gorgeous white porcelain teapot! I was really excited because I had been "eyeing" the exact same teapot at an online store for $30. I just love the intricate roses that stand out on the front of the teapot...sooo pretty!!!
*
I also found the most beautiful white porcelain pedestal plate and matching oval bowl! I just love the reticulated edge with the pretty red & white polka dotted ribbon laced through it!!! Ohhh...wouldn't these pieces be pretty on a Valentine's Day table? Love, love, LOVE THEM!!!
*
Cost: Teapot...$9.99
Pedestal plate...$5.99
Oval bowl....$5.99
*
I love TJ Maxx!!!
*
*
*
The two crystal candleholders were another treasure find from the new thrift store. I just love the cut glass pattern on them!!!
*
Cost: $1.00
*
*
Silverplated salt & pepper shakers from the new thrift store! They need a bit of polishing!
*
Cost: $2.95
*
*
Fisherman Santa
*
And...last but not least...is my greatest treasure find of the day!!! As I was paying for all my goodies at the new thrift store, I glanced over at a shelf behind the cash register...lo and behold...there he was in all of his Christmasy glory...SANTA!!!
*
Now...I collect Santa's and really became excited when I saw him just standing there on that old shelf! I asked the lady...nonchallantly...how much she wanted for Santa. There wasn't a price tag on him but she would take $5.00 for him! Yeeeehawwww!!! I'll take him!!! Fisherman Santa was brand spankin' new...and for just $5...he was mine!!! Oooh...now I can't wait for Christmas to get here! Hmmm...let me see...only 326 days until Christmas!!! Hehe!
In the meantime, I decided to put fisherman Santa on the filing cabinet in our office! It's decorated in khaki and green and we have many of our old antique toys, etc. in there...so Santa, with his cute little khaki vest and green trousers...fits right in!
