Autumn Has Arrived at Happy To Design!
*
Ohhh...I'm just so excited about finally getting to share some of my autumn decor! I spent all last week cleaning, crafting, decorating, and cleaning some more! Hehe! I love autumn!!! I love the cooler days...the deep, rich colors...and ohhhh, those titillating textures of autumn!!! It all just causes my heart to go "pitter-patter"!
*
Autumn decorating is my way of welcoming in the autumn season! It's actually a "rite of passage"...it's time to put away the summer and warm up the home with warmer, richer colors! Most of you already know...but for the sake of those who do not...my home is very conducive to the colors of autumn. The living area is done in shades of olive green, deep reds, and golds! So autumn is a "cinch" at my place!
*
I hope you enjoy autumn's "rite of passage"!!!

~~An Autumn Living Room~~ *
A living room in shades of olive green and deep red, with accent colors of gold...ready to welcome in the autumn season! A few autumn colored sofa pillows...a gold velvet throw to cozy up in...and a few new autumn vignettes!!!

Metamorphosis: "So Long, Summer...Hello Autumn"!!!
*
"Before"
*
This antique looking sofa table is situated in front of one of the living room windows. It's one of my favorite areas in my living room to decorate...with the large windows and "ceiling to floor" gold drapes and white shears! A beautiful demure olive green and gold topper dresses the table...along with a tall lamp and a summer vignette!
*
At the start of summer I added an antique silver tray with a creamy white ironstone tureen, a small cloche filled with shiny gold buttons, two silver candleholders, a silver beaded tassel and a frenchy looking silver ornament! A heavy glass vase filled with white hydrangeas also graces the window with summery pleasures!!!

Out with the cool summer whites and in with the warm shades of autumn!

Autumn Florals!
*
Okay, I must admit...this is not a new floral arrangement. This arrangement previously sat on my dining room buffet...but my dining room buffet received a new autumn makeover as well. Since I put away the summer whites (hydrangeas)...I wanted another floral arrangement with more of an autumny feel! Easy fix!!!
*
I found the pretty fleur de lis urn at Hobby Lobby...I think I only paid $4 for it. The finish of the urn is gorgeous...done up in shades of antique silver and gold, bronze, and an olive green! I used a vining ivy and mossy green flowers...added a long bunch of purple grapes and...Voila!!! I just love the colors of the ivy...mossy greens and some of the leaves are turning golden yellow...so perfect for autumn!!!

An Autumn Cloche

My little cloche even got an autumn makeover! Hehe! I replaced summer's gold buttons with miniature acorns and changed out the white ribbon for gold satin! Love the ornate, copper colored key!

I sure wished that I had this little cloche "autumn ready" for Marty's cloche party...ooops! If you would like to see this little cloche in its summer finery...you can click HERE.

This autumn vignette sits atop one of my sofa end tables. I found this pretty decorative metal pumpkin last week at Hobby Lobby for just $6 (50% off sale)! It's about 12 in. in diameter so it's nice sized...and I love the yellow ochre and olive green finish!!! Oooh...just look at the pretty ornate detailing...such a pretty pumpkin! Hehe!

I added a couple of floral picks to the center of the pumpkin...love those autumn berries and acorns! I placed the pumpkin on a silver pedistal dish for added height and added an autumn berry garland around the foot of it. Three chunky antiqued gold candleholders with burgandy pillar candles can be seen in the background. Ohhh...and look at the pretty black bird...also a treasure find from Hobby Lobby!!!

Chari, the room is lovely in its new fall decor. Of course I loved the summer look too! Are those real acorns in the bowl? I just did a fall tableau for my dining room table (My Met Monday Post) but had to use faux acorns. The only ones around here are tiny and usually full of little worms. Yikes! I'm not bringing them into my house. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this lovely post. ~ Sarah
A truly lovely livingroom, a feast for the eyes and the rich colors are so warm and inviting.
ReplyDeleteA very enjoyable post.
Sunny :)
Oh Chari, it looks just perfect!!! I'm working on getting my fall look together ... but it's taking longer than I expected. So much for sewing my own pillows! :) LOL! Thanks so much for posting this - you're keeping me on track. :) Stop by when/if you get a chance!

Matter of fact, could you just come on by and do some decorating for me??? Course i do not have all those beautiful treasures to do it with, so we we will need to shop first!

Hey Girl,
ReplyDeleteYou always make my day with your sweetness when you visit.
You bring a ray of sunshine to all of us. Thank you! :)
The table with the Autumn blocks vignette is in our entry foyer. I'm so happy you like it! The words are $15 at Lynette's shop. I had such a hard time figuring that table out for some reason. Hmmm...I really like it now too though. Yay! This is actually the first year I have decorated inside for Fall. I have been so inspired by blogger friends like you.
Thanks for your encouragement on my weight loss! I know that was alot of weight in a short time frame but one of my new B/P meds is actually a water reduction pill. I know it will start to slow down from here on out and I'm okay with it! I'm feeling soooo much better it's not even funny! It's amazing what a very heathy lifestyle and eating habits will do for the body. Yay again!
~Blessings my friend, ~Melissa :)
Oh, what beautiful, ELEGANT Fall decorating! Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
