It's Trash to Treasure Tuesday!!!

Hello friends! Today is "Trash to Treasure Tuesday" hosted by Diane over at A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words.

As many of you know...I've been busy, busy...trying to find homes at my place for many of my late father-in-law's treasures. To make a long story short...because this little post today is going to be "short & sweet"...I have claimed my step-son's bedroom as my very own studio/office. Oh boy, have my little "decorator's wheels" been a turnin'...hehe!!! I've always wanted a "toile" room and this is my chance to have one! It will be my own little "french country toile" heaven...hehe!!! Soooo this morning...I'm shopping around my house for things to put in there and just happened to look over at this little french country treasure....a magazine rack...that I've had in our office. It'll be perfect for my office!

I found this little treasure a few years back at a yard sale. I'll never forget that yard sale...the dearest little old lady was selling many of the items that she had collected over her "lifetime" of years. It was kind of sad...if you know what I mean...but I was more than happy to give this little magazine rack a good home! She gave it to me for .50 cents...can you believe that? Well...this is "Trash to Treasure Tuesday"....which brings me to point out that this darling little magazine rack had seen it's better days but I wouldn't change it...I love it's patina!
Here's a close-up of the cute, colorful rooster...how sweet!!!

Well my friends...guess I better go so I can clean up my little frenchy magazine rack and get it in my new room! Thank you so much for coming by...I always love when you visit and leave a comment!

Love ya'll,

Chari

  9. How cute! The style of that rooster reminds me of the dishes my mother had in the l950s. Ooooh, I wish I had those dishes - I don't have any idea what happened to them. She must have gotten rid of them back when I wasn't interested!!!! Stay warm - we're up to 20 degrees today. Sally

  18. Hi Chari,

Thanks for stopping by our blog. It is great to "meet" you. I really like your magazine rack. Love the black too. The story of course, makes it all the more special. Love when a piece has a story behind it.

About how I painted my lamp. Ack. I literally used some creamy grayish white wall paint that I bought over a year ago, to paint my hall bath. The lamp was spray painted satin black, and then with a cloth I started wiping the paint into the crevices. I started with a damp cloth, but it didn't work well, so I started using the dry end. Just kept wiping on then off, using both the wet&dry sides, until I liked it. In fact once during the process I thought it was done and took a picture, and then took it back in the kitchen and wiped off more paint, with the damp side of the cloth. It should have a matte sealer over it, but haven't gotten to that yet. Hope this helps some. I am going to post this same comment on my blog in case it will help someone else too. Feel free to ask me anything about it. I'm a very fly by the seat of my pants crafter, so not sure if this will help.
