A Summertime Master Bedroom...Part I

*
*
Hello my friends...I hope you're having a fabulous day!
*
I have been playing with summertime decor at my place and having so much fun!  I usually change things up a bit with each new season.  I love a "good" change...keeping things fresh and updated!
*
Here in Colorado, changing out winter's warm, heavy bed linens for something a little lighter is really a necessity.  Sooo...it just seems natural to start in the bedrooms when doing a little seasonal decorating!
*
"Down by the Seashore"
A Summertime Master Bedroom...Part I
*
Here we are...in my master bedroom that is now ready for the summer season.
*
I have been busy, busy!  When I change out the seasonal decor in my master bedroom...I always change the color.  No, I don't repaint the walls every season (even though I would love to do that) however, I do change the color theme by using different bed linens, bath linens, and accessories.
*
Summertime Colors
 ..White and Linen..
*
As you can see, I have an "Old-World-like plaster" paint treatment in antique gold on the walls..  It's a fairly "neutral" color...which opens up a variety of options for using different "accent" colors.  I have chosen soft shades of white and linen for my master's summertime decor.  Keeping it light and simple!
*
*
Two tall, antique cabinets flank either side of the bed.
*
I have contemplated changing out the antique cabinets for side tables but I think I would really miss the storage. So for now...they stay.
*
Down by the Seashore Vignettes...
*
I have created summery vignettes for the two antique cabinets.  A "His" and "Hers" seashore vignette...if you will!  Hehe!
*
*
A "Down by the Seashore" Vignette...for "Him"!
*
Honey sleeps on the left side of the bed so this cabinet belongs to him.  In keeping with the theme..."Down by the Seashore"...I tried to create a vignette of interest with more of a masculine feel and a little less "frou-frou"!  Hehe!
*
*
Old Glass and Treasures from the Sea...
*
A large vintage canning jar filled with white candles, a smaller jar filled with seashells, an old bottle filled with sea sand and shells...and a couple of old books...share the spotlight in this seashore vignette.  The light brown, velvet runner creates a nice foundation...looking a bit like sand on the beach.
*
A framed print of summertime flowers decorates the wall above the cabinet.
*
*
I love the look of the white candles in the old Altas canning jar.  They bring some of the fresh white up into this summery vignette.  The tall, corked bottle with the sea sand and shells received a pretty white ribbon with an old iron key!  Hmmm...maybe I should have put a little rolled up message on paper in the bottle.
*
*
*
*
*
Now...
A "Down by the Seashore" Vignette for "Her"!
*
*
The right side...or my side of the bed!
*
*
Romantic Candlelight and Sea Treasures...
*
Okay...my seashore vignette has just a bit of "frou-frou" in it!  Girls are like that...yea, they are!  Hehe!
*
*
Another framed print of a summer bouquet lays against the wall and sets the tone for this romantic, seashore vignette.
*
Candles...Candles...and More Candles...
*
I love candles and candlelight...for a little romantic ambiance!  I found these old, chippy, cream colored iron candleholders many years ago.  Tall white pillars bring more of that summery feel to this vignette.  A small glass votive with another white candle...sea sand...and shells join into the mix.
*
*
Treasures from the Sea...
*
This large shell is actually a bowl from a set of shell dishes that I have.  I filled it with a few of my favorite things...
*
a vintage linen and lace handkerchief...
two little star fish...
and pearls...
*
lots and lots of pearls!
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
The photos above and below are my favorites! My "artsy" photos! Hehe!
*
*
My summertime master bedroom..."Down by the Seashore"!
*
Well my friends...I hope that you enjoyed my seashore vignettes.  I hope to share more of my master bedroom's summer decor with you on Wednesday...so stay tuned for "Down by the Seashore...Part II.

Loving your Summertime bedroom! And the yin and yang of the masquline and feminine are perfect! Love the pearls with the shells. As for the cabinets, don't you dare trade them for side tables! The are fabulous and different! (I like different.) Love the whites!

I have changed my master out for the Summer too, in whites for the bedding. It just feels so much cooler---which means a lot when it's l04 every day! Maybe I'll get up the nerve to show it.

So interesting that you decided to show a bedroom today - - - a very LOVELY bedroom at that.

I have been working like a TROJAN for the last week and a half to create a guest bedroom in our basement. I'm ALMOST finished now.

Not sure if I'll show pictures on my blog or not - - - when I show my basement pictures I get TONS of people saying "I'd pain that concrete" or "I'd hang sheets up to HIDE that concrete"

I CAN'T paint - - - we don't own this house. And I can't STAND the thoughts of hanging sheets - - - yuck - - - makes me think of cabin dividers back in the 50's!!!

BUT - - - I have done LOTS OF OTHER things to warm up my little concrete basement bedroom hide-away and I'm LOVING how it is turning out.

I'm almost finished with it - - - - just in time for our FIRST overnight guests this Friday.

Whew - - - this wasn't a comment, it was an EPISTLE!!!

Your bed linens are perfect and the candles in the mason jar are one of the best ideas I have ever seen! I may have to copycat that one...lovely room. Happy 4th Chari!

So pretty, Chari. I like the two cabinets on each side. Kind of creates a headboard and it looks cozy. Love your light bed linens.

I love your vignettes, but most appreciate the practicality and cleverness of having a vintage mason jar full of candles at bedside. What a great idea for when the power goes out. We've been left scrambling far too many times this season, so I'm going to borrow this idea.
