Hello my friends...

Welcome to the 61st run of "Sunday Favorites"!!!

I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend! It's been a busy, busy week here at my place! Honey took a vacation week this past week and has been home...so we've been trying to catch up on a few projects around the house. Wow...at times it seemed never ending! Hehe! But it's been a great week...we had beautiful weather and got quite a bit accomplished! Yeeeehawww!!!

The temperatures are starting to really warm up here in Colorado...in fact, there has been a couple of days that I just stuck close to the a/c! Hehe! These hot summer days bring to mind, a post I did in July, 2009. What is it about the heat that makes me think of...and long for..."WHITE"? White just looks and feels refreshing...don't you think? Well my friends, I hope that you enjoy revisiting this post!

Stay cool and have a wonderful weekend!!!

It's Mosaic Monday
and
Fantasies in White!!!

Hello my friends! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend and that your Monday is off to a great start!
*
I have recently found the fun of making photo "mosaics"! If you haven't ever tried your hand at it...you really should! It really is sooo much fun and the possibilities for photo mosaics are endless!!! I have been using Flickr and Big Huge Labs to do mine but I'm sure that there are several software programs out there that you can use!
*
Mary over at Little Red House is hosting Mosaic Monday! I was just elated to find this fun filled Monday event...it gives us an outlet to show off some of the pretty photo mosaics that we've been experimenting with! Thank you, Mary!!! Please go on over to Mary's place when you're finished here...she always has the most beautiful mosaics...and while you're there you can visit the other participants!!!

What is it about white???
*
Lately, my mind has been wandering from the comfortable color palette of COLOR that I am so accustomed to! Yes...I love color! For those of you who know me...you know that I have surrounded myself in deep, rich color! The color palette of our home's living area consists of deep olives, reds, and golds. Our master bedroom is done in brown and seaside blue and our Tea Rose bedroom (guest room) dresses in hues of garden green, pinks, and soft buttery yellow! Did I mention that I LOVE COLOR? Hehe!
*
However...
*
Lately I have found myself dreaming of white! Yes...cool, clean, crisp white!!! White rooms...white furniture...white dishes...and yes, even white linens!!!
*
Maybe it's the summer heat...maybe it's my longing for that soft, sheer elegance that white so easily affords!!! Whatever the reason...I am in love with white!!! I wanted to share a few photos that I have found...that just makes me go "ahhhhhhh"!!!
*
*

Ahhhhh....white!!! Cool, clean, crisp white!!! My latest fantasy in white!!!

I'm Still Here & A Weekend Project!

*

*
Hello my friends...I hope you're having a fabulous Friday!
*
Whew...I know that I've been MIA this past week but there has been alot going on at my place! Honey has been home on vacation and we've been busy with a few projects around the house that we've been wanting to do. I haven't been at the computer much this week and I was afraid that ya'll may have forgotten me! Hehe! Soooo...I thought I would just do a quick post about a project that I have planned for this weekend.
*
My "Mystery" Project...

*
Yes...it's all a bit of a "mystery" at this point! I do hope that I can get this little project completed this weekend so that I can post about it next week.
*
Until then...can you guess what I am up to? Hehe! I'll give you a couple of hints...it involves fabric and decorating!
*

*
The "mystery" project involves a couple of inexpensive sheet sets from Walmart!
*
I purchased two sets of sheets that are color coordinated. The photo above shows one set that is done in a pretty sage green and blue floral pattern. The photo below shows the second set that is done in a sage green and blue paisley with a little yellow thrown into the mix! I just love the "cottage" feel you can get when mixing different floral patterns. It's a look that can be easily done when using the same colors.
*
Ohhh...and I'm loving this sage green and blue color...sooo summery!!!
*

*

*
Ohhh boy...I do have a mess in my dining room right now...but I needed my big table to spread all the fabric out. Hehe!
*
Well my friends, I just wanted to stop in and say hello! I really am still here...just been a bit preocupied this week! Cross your fingers for me...that I can get this project completed this weekend! Hopefully I will be posting about the results next week!
*
I'm trying to get a few things "spruced up" here at my place...because...we are having very special visitors in a couple of weeks! Yes...I am soooo excited!!! A very close friend is coming for a visit...and I bet you know her! Cindy from Applestone Cottage and her husband Dan are coming all the way from Wisconsin to Colorado for a visit!!! Ohhh... what fun Cindy and I will have! We have been friends for two years now...and we are finally going to get to meet "face to face"...for the first time! I just love this sweet lady to pieces! Ohhh my...I better get off of the computer and get busy...hehe!!!
*
Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Summer Wildflowers and a Tabletop Vignette!

*

*
Hello my friends...I hope you're having a marvelous Monday!
*
I have another busy week ahead. Honey is home for another vacation week...this week! I have sooo many things that I would like to get done...and need to get done, however I never really get anything accomplished when honey is home (just sayin')! Hehe!
*
I did go and pick a large bouquet of Colorado wildflowers to make a pretty centerpiece for my dining room table this weekend...thought I would share it with you today. These beautiful lavender/purple wildflowers are growing everywhere on our property. I think they are sooo pretty and I have found that they last a long time after cutting them and bringing them inside. The small budded white flowers remind me a bit of baby's breath...another wildflower growing on our property. They make for a pretty bouquet...don't you think?
*
Wildflowers and a Simple Tabletop Vignette...

*
A large white ironstone pitcher so sweetly holds the wildflower bouquet.
*
I dug out an old sagey green crockware pitcher and placed it under my large cloche that is sitting atop a glass pedestal cake plate. Simple...but beautiful!
*

*
A close-up shot of the pretty wildflowers. I love how the light from the window is shining on them...showcasing the beauty of a simple wildflower bouquet!!!
*

*

*
Teacups Under Glass...
*
On the opposite end of the table...another cloche. A white ironstone teacup and a couple of olive green transferware teacups are stacked and showcased "under glass"! Ahhh...simplicity...there is much to be said for it!!! A couple of embroidered "spring green" luncheon napkins...spoons...and one green apple share the spotlight...all placed upon a pretty lacy metal charger plate!
*
And...Voila!...summer wildflowers and a simple tabletop vignette for my dining room table!!! I hope you enjoyed!!!
*
*
I am joining in Tabletop Tuesday....
*

hosted by Marty over at A Stoll Thru Life!
*
Thank you, Marty...for hosting this lovely Tuesday party for us! I always enjoy participating!!! Please go by and see what Marty has for us today...you won't want to miss it! Marty is one of the most talented...and sweetest ladies in all of Blogland...she is the "Queen of Vignettes"!!! I am always inspired by her creativity and talents!!!

Marty will also be hosting another cloche party on July 16th...so dust off those cloches ladies and get ready!!!

Happy Fathers Day!!!
*
I hope that you are having a wonderful Fathers Day weekend! We are having beautiful weather here in Colorful Colorado...in fact, it's just the perfect day for celebrating Fathers Day! Honey and I plan on grilling a couple of big ol' steaks and just sit back and enjoy! The "Happy Fathers Day" greeting/photo...is a photo that I took last summer while on a camping trip up to the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mtns...at the Cache La Poudre River. I just thought it made a pretty Fathers Day card. Well my friends, do you have plans for this special day?

I would like to wish a very special Happy Fathers Day to my Dad! He's in Texas so I'm unable to spend the day with him, however I was able to spend Father's Day with him last year.
*
My Dad...

*
My Dad and Russell...Fathers Day, June 2009.
*
It had been several years since I have been able to celebrate Fathers Day with my Dad...so it was a great time! My Mom had really fixed a great meal (you know how mama's are...hehe!) and we all just enjoyed the day...getting to spend it together!!! Dad has his "breathe right" patch on his nose...just in case you're wondering! Hehe! Dad will turn 75 this year. He suffers with COPD and emphezema...please keep him in your prayers! This time of the year (in south Texas) is always difficult for him...between all the pollens and humidity. I hope that he is having a fabulous Fathers Day today! My sister, brother, and their families are celebrating with him!
*
Russell, Danielle, and Darrin...

*
I also would like to wish a Happy Fathers Day to my honey, Russell! This photo was also taken in June 2009 while we were in Texas. Darrin (age 16) and Danielle (age 15) are Russell's children...my step-children. This is such a good photo of all of them!
**
Since it is Fathers Day today, I decided to revisit a post that I did about my father-in-law in January, 2009. We lost him in December, 2008...and miss him greatly!!!

Well my friends, whatever your plans are for the day...I wish you a great one!!!
*
Have a wonderful weekend!!!

In Loving Memory of....

*
Russell & his Dad Dwain (Easter 2006)
*
It's been a few days since I've been able to post...many of you know that we lost Russell's Father this past week. The funeral was yesterday, and today has been the first time I've been able to "come up for air". I just wanted to thank all of you for your concern and prayers....they have been so deeply appreciated....we have felt each and every one of them!!!
*
Russell and I are very thankful to the Lord for taking Dad as He did...Dad just passed away to Glory while he was sleeping! He had been ill for sometime and his days had been getting more and more difficult but we were thankful that he was able to be home and not in some nursing home or hospital! We also take great comfort and peace in knowing that Dad was ready to meet the Lord and because of this, we didn't have to say "goodbye" but rather, "we will meet again"!!!
*
Thank you again my friends...for all of your prayers and condolences!!!

Dreaming of a Summer Metamorphosis: Master Bedroom Part I

*

*
Hello my friends! I hope you're having a marvelous Monday!
*
Ohhh my...it's been a busy week at my place! Summer is here and I am in the mood for a little change!
*
Last week I posted about wanting to "lighten" up my master bedroom...changing out its winter frocks for a new, fresh, summery dress! If you would like to see that post...you can click HERE.
*
Changing out my home's decor with the seasonal changes is often more of a necessity than mere pleasure. (Okay, who am I trying to kid here...I love to change my home's decor with the different seasons! I love to decorate! Hehe!) Our master bedroom is always outfitted in really warm, heavy bedding during the cold wintery months...but the temperatures are warming and it's time for a change! Time to change the dark, wintery colors and lighten things up...and it's time to put away winter's heavy bed linens!!!
*
Soooo...I started planning! Above you will see an idea board that I created for my master bedroom's new summer look! I found a duvet cover at Pottery Barn called "Painterly Paisley"...that I just fell in love with! I ordered it and it's here!
*
I am soooo ready to change my master bedroom's decor!!!
*
Winter Frocks...The "BEFORE"

*
As you can see...I used deep, rich chocolatey browns with seaside blue for the color scheme. The walls are antique gold...a faux paint to resemble an "Old World" Tuscan plaster. The bedding is from JC Penneys...and is very heavy...sooo perfect for those long, cold wintery nights in Colorado!
*
Antique Cabinets
*
I didn't mention this in my last post but the cabinets to either side of the bed came from my in-law's home. My mother-in-law took them out of their home when they remodeled. We think that they were probably made in the early 1900's...I love them and they are great for extra storage! I was looking for something different than the usual bedside tables. Lately, I have debated whether or not to keep them here...what do you think? If I do decide to keep them...I have considered adding fabric behind the glass doors...just to cover my mess! Hehe! I would love to hear your opinions!
*
Now...for the new summery dress...
*
The "AFTER"

*
TaaaDaaa! Such a change...don't you think?
*
Earlier I told you that its been a busy week for me! I spent a couple of days doing that dreaded deep cleaning! YUK!!! But...one can't put on a brand new dress without cleaning up first...right? Hehe!
*
Phase I:
*
I have much more that I would like to do in this room but this is what I've done so far...
*
1) New Drapes. I changed the heavy taffeta, seaside blue draperies behind the bed to a soft gold sheer drapes. These match the soft gold sheers that I have hung in front of the wall columns in my bedroom. You would have to visit the link that I included at the beginning of this post to see that. Adding the soft gold sheers gives the room more of a monochromatic color scheme...and I'm liking that!!!
*
2) New bed linens.
*
"BEFORE"

*
"AFTER"

*
"Painterly Paisley" from Pottery Barn
*
I needed a new duvet for my summer down comforter and when I seen this pretty duvet at Pottery Barn...it was instant love! It met all the criteria for my summer's decor plan! The paisley pattern in soft gold, taupe, and gray...remind me a bit of seashells! I love the soft colors...so pretty on that white background! Perfect!!! I ordered the two matching euro shams as well.
*
"Coventry" Matlasse Coverlet...
*
I found this gorgeous white matlasse coverlet and matching shams at Bed, Bath, and Beyond a few weeks ago. It was on their clearance shelf...marked down to just $29.99 because it had been used for display. Yeeehawww!!! It's white...gorgeous...lightweight...and just perfect for our summer bed!!!
*

*

*
I'm in love with this new bedding! I am also really liking the soft gold sheer drapery behind the bed as well! Between the new bed linens and the new drapes...the room has really "lightened" up!!!
*

*
Phase II...The Accessories
*
Now I'm ready to accessorize! I have changed out the art that sits above the antique cabinets....and I added a white ironstone pitcher...just getting a feel for which direction that I want to go! This is one stage of decor that I really enjoy...accessorizing!!!
*
So stay tuned for Phase II...there is more to come!!!
*
*

I am joining these two lovely parties today...
*

Metamorphosis Monday...hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.
*

Show Off Your Cottage Monday...hosted by Cielo at The House in the Roses.

Thank you so much, Susan and Cielo...for hosting these fabulous parties! Please go by and see what these lovely ladies have for us today and while you're there you can check out all the other participants!

*
Today I am joining in with the "Blue Monday" and "Mosaic Monday" parties. You will find the credits for these lovely parties at the end of my post!
*
Ohhh my...it seems that I am always running behind! Today I wanted to show you another one of my "After Christmas Sale" treasure finds. Yes...I'm just now getting around to taking a few photos and posting these little pretties! I hope that you enjoy!!!
*
Lovin' Those Teacup Blues...

*
I found these pretty teacups and saucers at Tender Heart Treasures during their "after Christmas sale". I had a two-fold reason for purchasing these pretty blue and white teacups...1) I really do need teacups! 2) I have nothing...absolutely nothing...blue! Well...they seemed like great reasons...don't you think? Hehe!
*
There were four different patterns available. I just looked at the Tender Heart Treasures online website in hopes of telling you the names of each pattern, however...they were no longer available! I will include the website address for this sweet little shop...they have some really pretty things over there and are very reasonably priced!
*
*
*

Teacup #1

*

*
I just love the sweet bird and beautiful flowers on this teacup! It reminds me of Spring. Ahhh...Spring!!!
*
For the photos, I am using a beautiful lacy metal charger plate that was a gift from my dearest friend, Gloria (Happy To Be). Gloria, I have already gotten "miles of use" out of these sweet charger plates...I just love them!!! Thank you again, my sweet friend! The white napkins, with the gorgeous lace, came from Target...from their Shabby Chic product line. And...once again, we are at the table in my red French Country dining room.
*
*
Teacup #2

*

*
Oooh...another sweet little bird...he is resting upon a rose! Do you see the little butterfly?
*
*
Teacup #3

*

*
This teacup has a beautiful bouquet of flowers!
*
*
Teacup #4

*

*
More lovely flowers! I love the pattern of the flowers on the saucer! Sooo pretty!!!
*
*
Lovin' Those Teacup Blues...

*
The 10 oz. porcelain teacups come with a porcelain infuser...so sweet for brewing the perfect cup of tea! Here in the photo mosaic, you can see the teacups with their infuser and lid.
*
I did mention that I found these pretties during the "after Christmas sale"...didn't I? They were on sale for $4.95 each. Not too bad!!!
*

Well my sweet friends...are you ready for a cup of tea?
